I feel for you...although our flight from Chicago wasn't near as long...we didn't get into our hotel room until 4am EST. I can only grimace at the time difference for you.

Jon, I have been having lots of success with Magnesium oil. It seems that works better than the pills. Just apply liberally to the affected area.

First ride of November. It was also 101st ride of the year for a total of 946 miles. 4.58 miles with Loke to burn some of his energy before Jens and I went out to lunch with his parents.

48 F, thick cloud cover and a chill wind. Definitely needed a couple extra layers. Almost needed a 3rd layer on top, but that might have left me sweaty. Fortunately, I managed to find a gap between rain clusters in our very, very soggy weather.

Also had to take Loke to the vet for another foot infection and had his arthritis checked.

It's becoming more and more obvious that Loke will be restricted to rides of 6 miles or less thanks to his arthritis particularly in his left hip and his right rear thigh joint. So, the next major riding season, I will most likely be on my own for longer rides which is more than a little sad.

Admittedly, I might not be riding too much this month. There's a yearly writing event in November and this year, I'm participating. The goal is to write a novel of at least 50,000 words in 30 days. The average novel is 80,000+ which will mean writing around 3000 words a day minimum.

I'll get in what I can. I do want to break 1000 miles this year at the very least.

I too rode for the first time in November. However it was sunny and 71 degrees. No humidity!

Did 20 miles and thoroughly enjoyed the Friday afternoon. Only bad part is I am back at work for the rest of the afternoon! :(

Sorry you had to work Jon...but I know what you mean. It is hard work trying to decide which trike or bike to ride here at at the convention. So many choices...:wink9:

Oh I know, and what makes it so difficult is that some of these are so COOL looking, and sleek and fast and ooohh so comfortable. Some of the recumbent bikes are just incredible, I wish I could bring a bunch home to the shop. Actually, I will probably pick up a couple if models to put in the shop etc. Just need to figure out which ones. I have to keep in mind the folks in TN and what price point is good etc.

I covered about 1250 miles the year I joined RRI (2008), but after that the distance nose-dived. 450-ish and several other years in the 600 mile range. It wasn't until last year with 803 that I broke the 600-650 mile ceiling. So, this year is quite an accomplishment. If I'd been able to pull my act together better, I would have been able to make it the highest mileage year since getting the trike. Just too much going wrong with Loke over the whole toe and strings of infections plus my various periods of being unwell.

Rode again today. 4 days, 3 rides. Just the river loop again, but out is out. I need less than 50 miles to break 1000 miles. It was cloudy and chill and windy, but I still went out with a smile on my face.

Loke limped a bit more than he did the previous ride and acted a bit stiff on a pee walk a few hours later. I might go ride again tomorrow, but without the fur ball. That might mean a longer outing which would be good.

My goal is 1242 miles this year, but with some of the pains and other issues that seem to be developing - might end a bit short of target.
    - the good news is the Tummy bulge is going down... :jiggy9:
and thats as good as a result as I could hope for.

The purpose of RRI is to have fun, find other recumbent riders to ride with and improve your health. Sounds like it is working for you!

Wow, how fast the fitness drops after 50. Just a few easy rides up until today since my eye surgery. Today tried a ride with some hills. Pretty good on the way out but the legs were toast on the hills coming back in. The VKhi makes it look better than it was. This bike is FAST! I look forward to next spring and doing it some justice. Right now it's time to get the Venom ready for winter riding.

The murky, wet and chill weather continues. When we came back from France, we had frosts, freezing fog and SUN. Since the beginning of Oct it's just been rain, rain and more rain. We should be having freezes, frosts and SNOW! Freakishly warm weather.

While the sky is the color of dull lead, at least it's not raining, so Loke and I went out with the trike. 4.6 miles leaving just 50 more to break 1000 for the year. It might not be freezing (43 F), but I could have used my footwarmers today!
