You missed one of the pros. I put that tire (35c) on the back of my Tour Easy and it was a real smooth ride.
I did not think it was all that slow on the C&O Tow path either. It felt good and so I was able to set a pretty fast pace. On pavement the slowness is more apparent I am sure
It is definitely a stiff tire but I bet a large rider might appreciate that. I am a little 150 pound guy packing 45 pound panniers and, still, the cush quality of the M+ was very obvious.

Back to the original question "Which brand is best" thats a tough question but I think it would be the brand with the most sizes and types available for recumbents. Schwalbe wins hands down if that is the criteria.

My Tour Easy gets the 100 psi Kenda up front, why ?
Never a problem, long life, feels good at 80 psi.

And I will stick with my Bontrager T2 Road 700C out back.

The Bontrager wears like Iron, I never get punctures/flats and It grips
good when I got the bike leaned way over sweeping a corner at big speeds.

    FYI,, The Bontrager Is $25

I will not spend $50-$75 on a bicycle tire, sorry.

The best tire is the one that fits, wears, feels the best and sells at the best price for the individual.

The best tire for what job? My trike came with some bald Kenda high pressure sump'n sump'n. They did seem faster than the Big Apples i went to. But after the first 1k miles i could count how many stones went into a mile of chip seal. So for me it is all about "cush". I don't have to get anywhere fast anymore. And i find they are pretty hardy. Not one flat after i left Jeff county. So the Schwalbe Big Apple is still my long distance go to tire. :jiggy9:

Haven't had much time lately. Haven't touched Jezebel in just over a year now. Made it out to Cali then rode up to Glacier National Park and couldn't find my passport. LoL Realized i had the wrong Bible, not the one with my passport and dog papers in it.Went back to Cali, found a hospitalized daughter, paralyzed from a skeeter bite. After about a year, 14 months she started getting some movement; still has trachea tube as well as feeding tube; so i thought i would give it another shot, But was asked by a friend to help him intervene to get his dad out of nursing home before they killed him. I have a serious soft spot for WW2 vets, and they were killing him so i agreed to 30 days. He was showing so much improvement i let them talk me into another couple months. We are now at month 16 and i cannot seem to get away. Can't find a local that i would leave my dog with let along someone i have come to care about. Have gained 41 pounds since i parked Jezebel. But have an appointment at LBS to get her ready to get our relationship back together. Gonna start with the 30 mile trip to post office for mail, then since the ole man is doing so much better will take some 2 or 3 day trips in the fall. 114 yesterday, so not my favorite riding weather. Especially for a portly guy like me. lol :jiggy9:

unfortunately had to choose from the cheaper range of tyre for my rear 26 inch on the Trike , and I had gotten a really good milage from my old Maxxis 26 inch Overdrive with Kevlar protection..... so thought Id buy again,
They didnt have the same one when I needed but had the Overdrive Excel Plus - it said it had Dual Compound. The harder in the centre for Longetivity , softer on outside.
So thought Great, they should really last.....
First Kevlar lasted approx 8000 km
These Dual Compound Lasted 2500 km. I wonder if they put the soft compound in centre by mistake :mad9:

Just wanted to warn others that may be looking for a Long lasting tyre.

I've ran into this on Motorcycle Tires several times after the Tire Companies started into the "Dual Compound Era"....Michelin Powers for instance.....get 4000 miles out of one, 7000 miles on another, and 3500 miles on another....Same Bike, Same Commutes, Same Roads, Same Speeds......:eek9:...:no9:

I have been riding and commuting on recumbent bikes, trikes and velomobiles since 1993. I also have ridden from NYC to Main and from NYC to San Francisco as well as Virginia to Vancouver (Trans-am) four times. I have never, ever had a flat with a marathon plus tire in literally 100,000 miles of ch
Cycling with them in. That being said, I use them for commuting where b
Not flat ting on the way to or from work us critical. Currently they are in my new HP Velotecknic scorpion FS26. On my Catrike expedition (Technically it's a 700 because it has the Utah Trikes rear wheel extension kit, a FLO 90 rear wheel, FSA carbon cranks, etc and is my racing trike) I run the Continental Grand Prix tires up front and the schwalbe Durano plus on the rear. I have to admit however thst since schwalbe introduced the Durano PLUS in the 20"/406 size, I have put them on all my 20" wheels and find them way faster and lighter than the marathon plus and do far, not a single flat!

I used to say Schwalbe were the best and they are great tires. But right now I am running Continental Gatorskins and LOVE THEM. I have not had ONE puncture in 2 1/2 years riding on them through some nasty stuff.

Hey guys, finally started riding again! :biggrin9:
    A wedgy!!!!!
Got remarried and wife wanted to ride together. Hoped on Jezebel and could not breathe. Found out my Hiatal Hernia repair came undone. So i am riding upright to try to diminish a bit of belly to see if i may be able to at least breath recumbent.:embarrassed9: Put about 50 miles on my ol"Mt. bike week before last, but may have pulled a back muscle or pinched a nerve. Spent last week "rid'n and guid"n a brand new wheel chair at the VA. 26" Flat Frees on back and 8" on front.
So now i am sleeping on a heating pad on the floor, (while my new wife complains how lonely my big bed is). But there is always a silver lining.
Because of the excruciating pain and all the drugs i have absolutely no appetite, (a good thing since i cannot get on or off the throne,) and i have now lost 17 pounds. :biggrin9:
If Babydoll can get the portable ice maker working before she leaves for a week in Colorado; so i can ice myself. I figure i should be able to drop another 15 by the time she gets back. Then maybe i can jump on Jezzy and get a NICE ride in. I love ya. See y'all in the funny papers! :jiggy9:
