Just love Jon's posts about wabbits - do the same here in the UK. Normally I'm gently riding along and a group of lycra clad guys on fast bikes will whizz past and if I'm lucky will say good morning. I normally let them get a little way ahead then slowly build up speed, dropping into the big ring and pumping the gears. I'm flying as I pass them, but always make a point of turning the pedals real slow as if it's no effort at all and wishing them good morning with a big grin ! Even better this morning, had to stop later at some red lights, was chatting to a guy on the pavement (sidewalk) who was asking me was it hard, I was telling him how easy and relaxing it was, just as the sweaty guys in lycra pulled up behind. Sweet ! Adrian

Went for a ride today. Roughly 25 miles. Loke and I poddled around an island I've been wanting to ride on for a few years now. Jens took pity on me or he was fed up with my glum mood so drove me to the castle on the island. I rode the northern reaches to come down the opposite south western side. The traffic on some of the roads was down right silly. Tiny little island, the one town was on the southern end with mostly fields and Woods on the rest so not sure where all the cars were coming from or going to.

On the south eastern leg of the island ride finally came to a cycle path which was really nice. Probably saw over 300 people on bikes both on roads and the path. Once on the path probably saw more than 30 people on roller skies as well.

Ended the ride at Drottningholm which is a castle listed as a world heritage site. 2 castles, 4 (5?) churches and probably about 10 runestones and a castle ruin.

I'll be blogging the ride in the next day or two.

Beautiful day today. Only rode 15 miles, but here I stopped often to look at the beauty of East Tennessee.

    Check it out!

First is the Tennessee River which I ride next to.

Next is an artificial falls at the Worlds Fair Park in Knoxville.

So you can see, I don't always chase wabbits!!!

    P-38 Interceptor!

Twenty miles this morning, on my new seat-pan.
This is it's longest test ride to date and except for
a few chafed spots (on me), I'm happy.

With just a few minor modifications, it'll be ready for paint.

This ride was remarkable for another reason:
I reeled in my first 'wabbit' on the new seat!
As I was heading home after a speed run, a recumbent
passed me going the other way... so I sped around the block,
planning to meet up with him on the flat, recumbent-friendly
    road I'd just left.

My interception worked flawlessly, just as I'd hoped it would.
I trailed the recumbent for a mile... having to slow down quite a bit.

The recumbent rider slowed dramatically while climbing a little hill...
just too slow for me... so I passed the guy uphill.

He was riding a beautiful maroon Lightning P-38,
reputedly one of the best-climbing 'bents ever made.

The Lightning disappeared into the background, rapidly.

After a few miles, I turned around at the end of the road and backtracked, but the recumbent had disappeared.
He had apparently turned off onto a side street.

    What a fun morning!

Granted I didn't ride today, Jon came by the shop briefly to say hi on his way to Tremont. He was supposed to stop back by on the way back and I kept a good look out for him. Was going to have his usual gatorade/snack bar combo waiting. Hmph!, lot of good that did...all I saw of him on the way back was a bright blue/yellow blur as he whizzed by going incredibly fast on his hi-racer.:D

Sorry Keila. I got up a head of steam and I didn't want to stop! Guilty as charged.

Rode 34 miles. Here are a couple of pictures I took along the way for all of you who are stuck inside today. Can you tell where I rode today???

Beautiful day. Low humidity, 70 degrees, mostly sunny, light wind.

I took it easy going out but coming back I put the hammer down. (Which is why I didn't stop at Keila's on the way back.)

Wabbits all going the other way so no hunting today.

Richard, Doc and I decided to go for a long ride today, we wound up with 57 miles. It was very windy (should have done the long ride yesterday) but we still finished with a good average.

We stopped at a store for a little snack, and as usual several people asked about my bent. They usually ask how much they cost and are shocked at the answer! I seems most people think of bicycles in the wal mart price range, so bikes costing a couple thousand seem outrageous.

57 miles eh...sounds like a good ride to me. What do your friends think of your 'bent now that you have ridden with them several times

BTW, Wal-Mart sells "bike shaped objects"...

I wonder if Wal-mart would sell at discount a year's worth of bikes (3 or 4) for a low, low price of $299.95 plus tax and even throw in an extra frame?

Well as you might suppose it has sparked a lot of conversation! As of right now no one has bought a bent, although a couple of folks have told me they are interested.
The speed of the Corsa has impressed some of my riding friends, and they know that it's more comfortable!
I feel it would help matters if we had a recumbent dealer less than 100 miles away, but alas we don't.

Bought my Corsa in a very atypical way for me buying anything: a virtual leap of faith. Had ridden a friend's for a couple hundred yards only. Bought from unknown 1000 miles away. No regrets. Never looked back.
