Just got back from brkfst a tad disappointed with myself. Ate at FC cuz a the $buck 98 brkfst. But since it is just over a mile from home base i was going to do a little loop i used to do, and get in some miles.
Just could not seem to get my motor rev'n after brkfst,(felt a lot colder than New Years too), so i just came home.
Have noticed i have been feel'n tarred all the time last few days tho. Hope i ain't com'n down with sump'n. On second thought maybe com'n down with sump'n is the lesser of the possibles. lol. i jes kinda thought it was nerves and stress of try'n to pack and finish up all the promises made before i leave town.
Am gonna try to get in at least 10 miles sometime today even if it hairlips the devil.
May hafta take a couple NoDoze ta do it....:jiggy9::jiggy9:

Goodness! Just Jan 3rd and already 2 or 3 pages on 2012?? :tongue9:

Loke and I went out for our first ride of the year. 40 F which is still freakishly warm for this time of the year... by as much as 30 degrees. Obviously no snow. That might change in the next couple days though.

Loke was excited to be out and I'm not sure what was up with him, but he kept trying to run and stare at my face at the same time. Maybe challenging me to go faster? :rolleyes9:

Around mile 2.5, he abruptly started limping which made me promptly turn for home. I've been trying to treat one of his paws again for the recurring fungal infection. The medication has run out, but our vet has been on vacation along with most of the other local ones. Fortunately, a vet tech was in our clinic today when I steered past it. Loke has an appointment for 3 pm with the substitute vet tomorrow.

Other than the mile where Loke limped, it was a good ride and we both enjoyed it. 4.52 miles and the days are getting longer! I really do hope the temps go back to the normal range around April or so. Otherwise it's going to be another horrible and miserable summer. :sad9:

Well I FINALLY got to put in a ride report for the new year. I haven't ridden since before Christmas. The day after Christmas until the day after New Years I was with my family at Universal Studios park in Orlando playing tourist, so no biking. Then when I got back I was swamped. Today is the first day that I had some breathing room AND nice weather to ride.

    55 degrees
    Sunny
    15.8 miles.

I am amazed at how much more huffing and puffing I did on one of my normal rides after 2 week of inactivity. Wow, I really need to get back on my bent!!!

Hope others can find the time, have good enough weather and the desire to get riding again!!!!

I agree Jon its amazing what taking off a few days will do..BLah i wish it would last more than a few weeks..lol

Road with the Wheelmen Retired Guys today. Great weather in the upper 50's. We did 23.2 miles at a pace of 12 mph. These guys are great to ride with and the funny thing is I am probably 30 years younger than the average person riding. the other recumbent rider is 75 plus and I HOPE to be able to ride like him at that age.(hes in the video I posted above). SO here is to you OLD people! You inspire me..lol

First ride off the year - 36 miles into central London, with a quick spin past Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square, stop for a Bacon Sandwich and a Tea of course, then back home. Around 45F, so almost warm enough for shorts on the bike !

36 mile is a good ride. Sounds like you had a good time. Do you ride alone or with friends? How do you like your Greenspeed?

Hi - The Greenspeed is great fun, it's a tandem which I pilot for a friend of mine who is registered blind. Although he's not completely blind as you and I might understand it, he has no Vision at all in the centre of his eyes, and what he has on the periphery is rapidly going. Despite this he actually still cycles solo as well, but can no longer ride an upright but does ride a recumbent ICE trike. He's realistic though, so purchased the tandem, so he can keep cycling. Having been piloting the tandem since mid summer last year, I really have the recumbent bug and will probably buy one of the new ICE trike models when they come out in the Spring. We're hoping that we can go touring with the two trikes while he's still able.

The Greenspeed doesn't compare to the ICE in terms of looks, it's not as elegant, but it certainly does the job. We love taking it up to London, it really draws the crowds and surprisingly feels really safe in Traffic. I think drivers are so shocked by it, they keep there distance. The nearest I've come to having an accident on it, is when I get it up on 2 wheels round corners :smile9:

OK, for only a short while, I have more miles on Bike Journal than Ward or Dave. Won't last, but it was fun while it lasted!!!

Rode the Bacchetta today around Cherokee Blvd loop for 20.1 miles. The temp says 56 degrees but it felt a LOT colder than that! Nasty, cloudy day. BLAH!!!! Only good thing is I got to ride today.

Finally made it to Columbia, SC.. Rain finally stopped as well. Didn't get to ride much past few days. Seems i was coming down with a bug. Went to brothers house for lunch got cold chills slept from noon till 5:30 am.
So today i tried to make up for it. 43.6 miles around Columbia. Will hug my boy tonight then head out on that long and winding road with Georgia on my mind. Mostly the Rio Grande on my mind; but will look at Georgia on my way through. Any body in route from Augusta, Atlanta, down toward Montgomery wanna ride give me a "HOLLA" :jiggy9:

What a wonderful thing to do for a friend. Even better if it has you addicted to 'bents now. :jiggy9:

I love the ICE trikes. I've been drooling over the new models, but my 2006 Trice QNT is awesome and still going strong even with all abuse I've put it through over the years.

Which of the new models are you considering?

Well this ride was an adventure http://app.strava.com/rides/3239855

My buddy Buck called me and said "Hey you wanna go riding tomorrow its supposed to get up to 56 deg. I was like sure lets go! Well I woke up at 8 for the 9 am ride and it was 28 deg, frost and ice on the roads. Well me being stupid i got dressed in about 100 layers of clothes and took off to meet Buck on Cedar Creek Grade. We both decided it would be ok to ride but we had to be careful

The first hour or so was freezing until it warmed up to about 43 for the day. So much for a 56 deg day. OO and Buck says we will do the Short version of Fetzers Gap.

We dodged a few icy spots until the road thawed and TONS of gravel from a recent snow. These to factors keep our speed way down especially on decents. The hills kept my speed down otherwise. I was really crying for lower gears on this ride. After this I am gonna debating dropping to a smaller one up front , but then again i did not stop so i may stick with it.

I also got chased by 3-4 dogs, One set I was doing 25 mph and i see two black streaks catching up to me out of the corner of my eye I cranked it to 30 before i could lose them. I thought i was a gonner. Funny thing is they never chased Buck at all.

Overall 53.3 miles- So much for a shorter route-the long one is 63..lol
5000 feet of climing-(Stava says over 6 but its wrong)
    12.3 average

I told buck the next time he calls and asks me to go for a ride I am gonna hang up on him..lol ( I hate riding in cold weather!)

Me and Buck at a Metal Cat or Dragon on Fetzers Road.
