    Thanks for sharing, Ed!

Cades Cove is beautiful and even before I discovered 'bents, I wanted to ride it after seeing it from car the first time, especially after seeing one of the few red wolves in the area.

I think I found out where my will to do a longer ride yesterday went. It was killed by a fever. Less than 2 hours after I'd brought the trike back in, I was buried under blankets on the couch with chills and eyeing a thermometer. :eek9:

    Ed,

Great videos!! I really enjoyed them!! :goodjob:

I rode 16.1 miles yesterday and got 1 flat. That makes 2 flats and 1 broken valve in 2 days. That must be a record.

At least I will say I am getting really good at taking off my back tire and patching tubes. Dave you would be proud of me. I am living up the the award you gave me a couple of years back "Cold Weather King of Flats". I am attaching a copy for those who don't remember my title!!!

BTW, if anyone else would like to take that title from me, I am more than willing to relinquish it since I am tired of changing flat tubes!!!

Me and Willie G took a leisurely ride Sat afternoon down by the bike shop. We rode 45 minutes or so...it was a nice day. Lots of SUN and gave me the 'bent biking fever something awful.

Bless him! Hope he keeps on for another decade or so! :yes9:

Reminds me a bit of one gentleman I used to see a lot of my first few years in Sweden. Had to be 80 if he was a day. White beard and white hair with not a trace of gray or other color to be seen. All weather, he'd be out jogging with a headband, water bottle, tank top and shorts or heavier clothing when it was cold. His pace was ragged and lurching, obvious he'd had a stroke at some point, but there he was. Given I'd see him anywhere in about a 4 mile radius of the apartment, he had to go for miles.

I always made a point to wave when I saw him. He vanished for a couple years and I've been wondering about him. Remarkably, I saw him a couple weeks ago. Dressed in a black track suit, but going gamely along over the ice.

    I smiled and waved.

Yesterday was a beautiful day. Sunny and 70's. I decided to take 1/2 a day off from work and go see Keila at U-Man Power in Townsend. I took my Bacchetta. Keila had not seen this bike in person, so I showed her the bike and talked to her about it. I had her take this picture. That bent can make an old man "look" fast even if he isn't!!! (Notice I am wearing the very good looking RRI jersey! If you would like to purchase a jersey just click the word jersey and it will take you to the Bend It website where you can purchase them. You would look great at the SMRR in May 2012!!!)

    2973.jpg

After looking at their shop I decided to ride to the Coulter Bridge and back. This is part of the Friday bike ride at the Smoky Mountain Recumbent Rally in May. The follow are pictures along the way I took with my cell phone.

    2974.jpg

The ride follows the river for the first 10 miles.

    2975.jpg

This is looking back at the mountains I just came through to get to Coulter Bridge.

    2976.jpg

Old Walland Highway is the old road to get to Townsend from Knoxville. Since the new road was built, Old Walland Highway receives very little car traffic yet the views are spectacular. And it is all asphalt in good condition!!!

    2977.jpg

Finally made it back to U-Mann where I parked my car. Here is a picture of Keila and their shop.

    2978.jpg

All of the SMRR rides will be leaving from here in May. Plenty of parking but you can ride from the local hotels because they are not far from the shop.

Rode 21.6 miles averaging 16.9 MPH on a winding back roads. I was happy with my performance.

One last piece of information about the Smoky Mountain Recumbent Rally. We only have 7 people signed up so far and only two from our club (Me and A.D.). So if you are planning to come, please sign up soon. If we don't get at least 20 people we will have to cancel the event due to lack of interest. :sad9: And after all the hard work Keila has put into this, I would have to :hissyfit9:.

The bike is beautiful and I was surprised at how light it is! Wow. Jon was really decked out in his pretty red black motif. Definitely visible. His mention of the club jersey is a great idea. If folks could bring their RRI jerseys and wear them on some of the rides that would be cool. I would like to see them on the Friday morning ride and at the Cades Cove morning ride. That would be just too cool! BTW Ignore my expression in the photo of the shop. Standing in the sun with in my eyes always makes me look angry when I'm not...wish there was some way to photo shop myself out of the picture.:embarrassed9:
