2012 SMOKY MTN. RECUMBENT RALLY (SMRR)

Has anyone run anything by Mark about being involved? I've been sort of out of loop on this, but it seems appropriate if Power On wants to be involved in this....

 

I talked to him about it. I even sent him links to this page. I will need prod some more to see if he is interested.

 

I think one of the rides should be up the Laurel Valley Road, through Cades Cove loop and then back down the mountain to Townsend. Lots of climbing and Challenge for the group and then a great 9 mile coast back down. Yep. We should do this.

We also have our promotional video, a video of the Cades Cove ride which is our featured Saturday morning ride and registration. Finally, we have the tentative itinerary of this rally. (Subject to change of course!) (See attached PDF file.)

All rides are easy to moderate. None are difficult. The Friday featured ride I am leading has the whole group leaving and riding together for 11 miles. Then the 22 mile people turn back to Townsend while the 43 mile folks continue ahead with me to South Knoxville and back. Only one big hill in that ride but if I can make it, and you are comfortable riding that distance, you can make it too. We plan to regroup every 5 miles or so to make sure no one gets lost.

Can a yanky come down and help get that organized on the food stops and all that will there be SAG and stops during the rally. Because it is in the mountians

30 years ago I moved down from Indiana to Tennessee. I helped my builder build my first house. He told me "you are going to be a d*** Yankee aren't you.". I said what is a **** Yankee??? He said someone from the North who moves South and stays!!!!

Nope. Trying to take a bike as luggage on a plane costs a couple of hundred dollars and I didn't have time to ride it anyway.

Did get to see Virginia City, Nevada which was cool and the old Carson City Mint. Then spent a night in Lake Tahoe. Great trip.
