In my quest for greater versatility in a SUN visor, I recently tripped across a Sixsixone 06 Full Bravo Helmet Visor on eBay which is meant to fit onto a full-face racing style bicycle helmet and held in place by two small bolts on the sides.

Although there's no way to mount it onto a standard road bike helmet using such, one can simply attach it in place using ty-wraps. Mounted in that manner, it's free to rotate up and down so you can adjust it on the go as the sun appears in your eyes.

I've swapped out my stock Giro helmet visors for these and have been very pleased with the results. I can simply raise or lower the tip of the Sixsixone visor by about 3" whenever I need to. :yay: Once it's pulled all the way down to block direct sunlight, it stays in place until I reach about 30mph and then it automatically creeps back up again.

While I like the extra long carbon visor and it's clones discussed in the previous posts, they don't have the ability to be easily rotated up/down while you're riding if they've been affixed with velcro and/or glue. :gripe:

So, I wanted to mention that if they were attached via ty-wraps onto the sides of the helmet, they might offer a bit more usability. :joy:

In the pics below, you can see my Giro helmet with & without it's stock visor, the Sixsixone visor alongside the stock Giro visor and what I used to attach it.

Lastly, there's a few pics with the Sixsixone visor installed showing it in the up/mid/down positions.

Very nice! Buddy needs one. That way when he lowers the visor we won't have to see his face!

If you don't use the Take-A-Look mirror (on your glasses), then this may well be yet another option as I think the neck-shade could partially block one's rear view of the road. I just tripped across it on eBay as: PIP 396-801FR Hard Hat Visor with Neck Shade

    FEATURES
    • Shield eyes and neck from the sun
    • Silver reflective tape on back
    • One size fits all
    • Lightweight
    • Ideal for use in hot work conditions to improve comfort and help avoid heat related illness
    • Fire resistant material

    SPECIFICATIONS
    Material: 100% Polyester

It looks large enough to go around a bicycle helmet and would provide a pretty good-sized visor/bill up front for under $15.

wish I had seen this post before. I intuitively made one similar to the Black plastic ones in the post but Would have loved to have incoporated the Velcro idea - mine is cable tied on.
Picture soon. My helmet is growing weirder with the recent inclusion of the Head Lamp......

I made a couple as described above. They worked, but we wished they were a bit longer for the low sun positions. After about 6 months the Velcro (industrial strength) came off of the helmet on one and the visor on the other. We decided to go with the DaBrim. LOVE the sun protection the DaBrims provide.

If you go with a DaBrim get the Recumbent Strap. We did but did not install it for the first ride. BIG mistake. The front flopped all over. With the strap the front stays where it should.

The wife got the sporty and I got the classic (more sun protection).

I also had the afternoon sun irritation, so cut a really big cardboard visor.
Then trimmed it back until it was suitable.
Used cardboard to cut piece of thin clear plastic then painted underside black.
Drilled holes and cable tied on to the helmet.
    -
I tilt my head slightly forward and the visor can completely block out the low sun.
Does not cause any issues with wind or normal Vision.

Thanks! I ordered one from eBay and installed it today. I used two zip ties per side to place it in a non-moveable position and it works great!
