The end of 3 days of rain coincided nicely with recovery from a mild cold. Though my MIL was here to help with all the cleaning I can't do in preparation for our Thanksgiving on Saturday, I went for a ride with Loke. Just the extended River Loop again (6 miles). It was so warm I was regretting pulling on the 2nd layer of clothing. Loke even got overheated.

I would have gone for longer, but I felt guilty enough leaving Kiki here alone for that short time. Weather permitting, I'll go for a longer ride on Saturday to wear Loke out a little before the family arrives so he'll calm down quicker.

I happened to look at my overall mileage since I first got a Garmin. It looks like that I've not done much more than 4800 miles since I bought my trike in 2006. Most years, I've ridden about 650 miles. One year was 900+, another was 412. 2008 was my best year with nearly 1300 miles.

Still 4800 miles isn't much for 5 years of riding. :rolleyes9:

Terii, if you were to compare it to my miles you must remember that because of the Sea Dragon I can travel many more miles in the same time frame. You are also traveling many times with a trailer and lets not forget about Loke. Not only that, but you arn't riding just to ride but on a missionre seeking adventure and exploring new places.

    Happy Thanksgiving

    Terii,

4,800 miles in 5 years isn't bad for someone who isn't out racing. About a 1,000 to 1,200 miles a year is what I was hoping to maintain while I'm still working. Because of health issues this year, I haven't maintained my normal habit of riding 2 - 3 times a week for a minimum of 15 - 20 miles per ride.

Enjoy your riding, it is what will keep it fun for you. I'm hoping this weekend I'll be able to get back on my RANS, wanted to ride last weekend, but rain :no9: kept me from riding.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all!

    Thanksgiving Morning Club Ride

The Winchester Wheelmen had a Thanksgiving Morning ride of close to 25 Miles. About 25 people showed up and it was a beautiful ride. I tell you what I went from the back/middle of the pack with the V-Rex to the front of the pack with the Corsa. On the runs between the stops to regroup I flat out dusted the fast group. I hit 34 mph on a flat on one section and the DF's were busting tail to catch me then all of a sudden poof they dropped so i slowed down.

I got half a dozen comments of "man that thing is fast" and "that thing flies through the air like a bullet". There were a few folks there that were not sold on the recumbent but I think they have new found Recumbent respect. I am a very happy Corsa owner..l:jiggy9:

18.2 Mile club ride with the retirees. We had about 8 people show up and it was a great ride. My buddy showed up on his Gold rush with front fairing and we did a few tests. Every hill we came down to we stopped at the top and coasted down to see which bent was faster, the Faired Gold Rush or the laid back Corsa.

Jim is pilot/proffessor and knows a lot about aerodynamics. It was not very scientific but it worked..lol

    Which one won?

Between 15 and 20 one bike had a slight advantage and slowly pulled away from the other.

Over 20 and 30 + one bike clearly dominated the other, pulling away very quickly. It wasn't even close. At one point coasting near 34 one bike was left in the dust.

Jim stated that slower speeds aerodynamics do not matter a wjhole lot but at speeds 20+ they become very important.

    The winner every time?

    Bacchetta Corsa

I think he was impressed that the laid back Corsa was that fast. I can now safely say that the Corsa is indeed faster than a faired Gold Rush.

With all that messing around we still ended up with a 12.8 average over 18 miles.

Weight is also a factor as well as tire rolling resistance. The guy I ride with outweighs me by about 80 LBS and he pulls away from me on the trike when we hit downhills unless I cheat and use my 67t schlumph. On the Carbent its dead even if neither of us pedal.

Ahh!! To live close enough to the country to be able to go riding without a 2 hour drive. Oh, well, at least I have a few scenic riverbeds, and the beach to ride along.

Great pictures, makes me very envious, at least right up till it turns white! :laugh9:

I cheated on my Corsa-Was planning on doing 50 or 60 miles but a club member called and wanted to do a MTB ride. I pulled my dusty trek down from the bike rack and met him at Strasburg park.

    Boy was that a mistake.

Ended up doing 28.5 miles with around 2000 feet of climbing 11.3 MPH

My legs, wrists, neck, back and taint all are killing me. I am going to have to sell that Bike So i wont ever be tempted to get back on it ever again. MTB'ing is WAY harder than road biking..lol

Nice and warm today so I took the Dragon out for a spin. A few riders out but the weather forecasters had promised a bunch of rain which probably scared off most. The wind was listed as 10-15 but I think it was closer to 20 with gusts much higher.

30 miles with an 18.2 mph average on a very flat course. Only one rabbit, I gave him a nice lead, then caught and passed him at 31mph on just a very slight downhill. He dropped out of sight pretty quickly. :yes9:
