Yesterday morning with the forecast of 69 degrees we pulled out at 8am with frost on the ground and a cool 30 degrees. We left from the tiny community of Whitesville, Ga and headed towards a boy scout camp on the other side of West Point lake.

Nice roads and not too much traffic until we reached Lagrange, Ga. From there we hit some smaller roads trying to hide from the traffic. We were successful but paid the price with some pretty crappy roads. After 38 miles we reached the camp, there was some sort of a jamboree going on and the trike was a hit. I think the scout masters like it even more than the scouts.

We turned towards home and after about 10 miles we reached a great road, nice and smooth. I hadn't planned well and didn't have any food with me. We hadn't seen any stores and since I didn't borrow anything from the scouts I bonked pretty hard by mile 60. We went into the heart of Lagrange and recharged at a Wendy's. Three glasses of sweet tea and a grilled chicken combo I was good to go. Shucked two layers and off we went. Back on the smooth roads a little bit of a head wind but not enough to really gripe about.

78 total miles and we were home and the temp was about 68 degrees. It was almost the longest ride I have done on her so far and with the 3600 feet of climbing not the easiest, 13.6 mph average. (I just cant seem to break 14)

Keep those rides going! I'm living vicariously through you guys right now. ;)

I almost talked myself into a ride yesterday believe it or not. We've had enough 'warm' days this month the roads are clearing. The country roads are a mixed bag though. I probably could ride IF I swapped to studded tires. I just can't face keeping my trike off the trainer and my back can't handle swapping the rear wheel on a daily basis or something silly like that. :rolleyes9:

Unfortunately, we're supposed to get more snow this week even if not very cold. From coldest Novemeber on record to warmest January. :eek9:

It is 56 degrees in Knoxville today. Tennessee thinks it is Spring already. But bad weather is on its way.

I rode again today making it 16 miles at lunch time. I almost made 100 miles this month. Considering I could only ride the first and last week because of weather, that is quite an accomplishment!!!

On Friday (1/28) I put in 50.3 miles. Not a bad ride considering I'd been sick earlier. The weather was cold (California standards) at about 60 degrees when I started. It was in the low 70s when I got home.

Saw several other bents and stopped and talked with a couple of trike riders.

Most of my ride was on bike trails, however, about 10 miles was on PCH (Pacific Coast Highway a major north/south rode in So. Cal.) and I ended up riding through some road construction on the last 2 miles. I now need to take some time and get the asphalt off my tires.

This ride let me know I would be ready for the Solvang Century in March, I won't break any records, but I will finish it!

What did you name your movie and I can go look it up. I had no luck looking for "Buddy Bishop" or "Gene on Knoxville Greenway".

Road yesterday 44.5 miles From Strasburg to Winchester and back. Got chased by a pack of dogs again. So far this is the longest ride ever on the Rex. Gonna hit the road again tomorrow and hope to keep Flying1960 in site.

My GPS batteries died about 2 miles outside of town so I Stopped at CVS for some fresh ones.
