:biggrin9:My most recent ride due to lack of funds and a wonky trike was to church then to wallgreenes yesterday then today to the doctor's office for an appointment. Where nothing got done no tips on how i can loose weight. I'm now 49 pounds from being too darn fat to ride my trike. That sucks.

Tip#1. Start getting up at a decent hour and eat a healthy breakfast, ie oatmeal w, some fruit, nuts, and yogurt on top. It will stick with you so you are not so hungry at lunch.
Tip#2.Go do something, get out of that cave you hide inmost of the time, and ride your bike or go for a walk, or just start doing something around the house.
Tip#3.Turn off the computer! Down here in ****'o the humidity has been so horrible, it makes the heat seem unbearable. So i do everything i can from 6:30 to about 12:30 then i take about a 2 1/2 hour lunch break where i try to catch up on all my computer stuff. Then and this is important; I go back to work till around dark. Then i fix a bite to eat,(usually to tired to fix much), i walk the dog toy,and/or go for a ride and start winding down so i can be in bed no later than midnight.
Tip#4.combine all the above tips to mean;get out of your room ,start doing something, put away the snacks, start making your own healthy meals, and do not ever burn your daylight.
You forgot i have rode with you. You may be a blind albino, but what was in the blind albino package was a "HOSS"! So get active boy use what the good Lord gave ya.

    Perfect fall ride

One of the guys in my club, Darryl, does a 'birthday' ride every October, from the commuter lot near his house to Parma, Michigan. The round trip is good for 67 miles. Mapquest says it's 1626 feet of climbing, which is 'moderately hilly' for southern Michigan, but not very impressive for most cyclists. As luck would have it, color is peaking here, we had a warm spell and it got to 80F on Saturday, and maybe best of all, NO WIND!!! Lunch was at a cafe in Parma. I think we had nearly 20 people, who of course split into a couple of groups. The front group averaged a nice easy 18 mph. Recumbent content: There were 3 recumbents on the ride: the Volae tandem shown below, a GRR, and me on my NoCom.

    Typical shady road:

Decided to take a little ride Saturday afternoon. Was a bitter sweet ride. I let out a bit after lunch as i had been working on the house that morning. Had no plans as to destination or time i would ride. Just kinda joy ride'n. Stopped at convenience just around the corner from home. Found out it was just ater mid night; and was bummed to find i only had 93.6 miles.(sweet part) I thought if i had only known i could have come home a different way and had me a century in the bag. (bitter part) But then i remembered all you guys are into speed so a century probably has some kind of time limit on it as well; so i probably went over that i'm sure. (bitter sweet part). So y'all splain a century for me and next time i'll have sump'n to shoot for....:jiggy9:

It's not complicated. Ya ride out and around the countryside and then you come home. If'n yer computer sez ya rode 100 miles, then you've done a century. If it don't, you can turn right around and ride some more. You're allowed to stop for eating, drinking, and 'rest' stops, but if you take time out to go shopping, mow the lawn, etc. that breaks it up. My rule of thumb is, if you change out of your biking duds, you've ended.

When you're all done, you look at the time, subtract an hour or two, and post your accomplishment here.

The weather is BEAUTIFUL!!! Rode today. Instead of talking about it, I made a video. So if you didn't ride today, take 13 minutes, turn up the sound on your speakers and enjoy this Knoxville greenway ride.

One more thing. Just got a Kodak Playsport Video camera. I think other members in our group have these. This is my first attempt and I know I need to get some way of running the camera WITHOUT holding it in my right hand. Will work on either a helmet mount or bike mount. I am thinking helmet mount would be smoother but not sure. One big disadvantage I have over Ed is he doesn't have to worry about balancing, going slow or stopping with this trike. I DO!!! :yikes: Ride got a little scary at times trying to shift gears, breaking and turning all with my left hand!!! :nailbiter:

What do the rest of you folks do when taking videos and riding???? :idunno:

ALL videos & stills help capture moments from which all may learn and be entertained!

Bike or trike, one quickly learns that brake pads wear quicker on the braking wheel!

Consider one of two options or both: A neck strap with a Velcro pad on the end and a Velcro compliment on the camera. I used sticky-back Velcro on my set because both items had a smooth hard surface. I also attached a expandable 'phone' type cord between the camera base mount (1/4"-20 thread to a hook) and the clip at the end of the neck strap. This serves as an emergency tag-line in the event the camera is dropped.

Thats where I have the system at this writing, but I'm going to add a standing socket that I can place the camera in when shooting forward on a downhill of for hands-free gear shifting or braking. I use an open-backed spinning rod holder on my kayak but the holder is rather heavy, so I'll fab something out of pipe/wood. This would also serve as a storage holder between shots rather than dangling on the neck strap. Even in the holder, it's still phone-cord attached to the neck strap.

Keep in mind, I installed a piece of broom handle fitted with a foam handlebar grip that I can hold on the base of this 'stick' It's also where the camera tether (neck strap via phone cord) is attached.

    A. D., further description/video should be posted to an RRI camera thread. I can remember one when I first signed aboard so the archived history is easily retrieved. Pointer(s) welcomed.

Also, when the video is being shot, a continual view that shows gear change/brake jerking etc can be edited out later, If you are shooting a live voice-over, REMEMBER TO STOP TALKING DURING THAT PORTION THAT WILL LIKELY BE EDITED OUT. That way, the audio and video can seamlessly continue. Above all, STAY SAFE! Filming on the go does NOT improve the likelyhood of a safer ride! Shoot a lot and teach your hand/camera to become one; that means mistakes will be a valuable part of the learning process.

I have used\tried several different mounts with my Kodak Playsport. Nothing beats just holding it in you hand...all the mounts led to very shaky videos. Also you can spin the camera around quickly in you hand...I just learned to be very careful...you won't see me shooting many videos screaming down hill one handed. Some rides where I m trying to ride fast I wont video either. Also like the above poster said..I use the kodak sport software to edit some stuff out and string a lot of 10 sec clips together.
