**** Buddy your harsh.. I hope to impress you some day. Maybe this will..:cool9:

Me and my buddy Tom decided to go on a bike ride to his in-laws cabin. We started in Wardensville, WV to keep off of RT 55 as much as possible and extend our lives by a few years. We used Corridor-H (funny *** name for a highway), and went through Baker and Lost River WV. It was beautiful and we ended up in Crider, VA. We had a great time, they fed us well, and we had a quite a few brewskis before retiring to our hammocks. (EMO hammocks Rule!)

I found I REALLY hate bridges..I had potty mouth in the video but it really scares the #$## out of me. It was really a nice view though.

    Day 2

We woke up to rain and waited a few hours and it finally stopped. We took off around 11 am for the return trip. The rain hit us off and on throughout the day but it was a great ride. The first store we stopped at for supplies (Bergton) had 30 rednecks sitting on the front steps. I sent Tom in first to see if he would make it back outside alive and he did..lol

    Day 1 42.4 avg 15.6-2615 Ft climbing

    Day 2 40.4 avg 15.7-1724 Ft climbing

Riding flat ground in 100 degree hot sunshine day

Brian, I'm not harsh and too old to do dumb things. Flat ground is nice
except in 100 degree weather for 100 miles. That is not fun or smart.

Kids rode the Creeper today in the rain, They were a mess. They were
pictured on WCYB channel 5 in Bristol. Now that would be fun with
    a group.

    Nice video, thanks.

The residual coal and coal dust in the trail from years of train travel gets kicked up with water. The resulting black stripe along one's backside usually signals that those clothes will be thrown away. Don't know anything that'll clean them without bleaching out color.

They didn't seem to mind. One girl said she liked to get dirty. The bike
shop owner had a water hose and was hosing them down. The girls were
holding all that long hair up so it could be hosed good. Just the reason
I have fenders on the P-38 for off road.

I am starting to get Greyhound brain. Caught 1 wabbit today. Young guy with one of those time trial helmets on. He wasn't pushing it until I passed him. He then came up beside me. I went to my big chain ring and down a cog and politely said good bye.

(I was doing loops on Cherokee Blvd. With the wet roads my loop was only go 1 mile turn around and go back for a total of a 2 mile loop.) So, when I came to my turn in 1/4 mile of passing him, I slow down and headed back. Of course I couldn't breath and my muscles were aching, but I had a smile on my face.

Saw 5 bikers out. No one caught me today!

    Nic 60's morning

Our regular Tuesday morning ride was fantastic. It is the Civil War
Bridgeburner ride from the Bridgeburner's cemetery through West
Greene County. We have had 10 cars and twenty people on this
ride, but with rain in the forecast, there were only five of us. Mickey,
Anne, Vic, Ken and Buddy. It is a fast ride. Vic is world class and
is as fast as Mickey and those who know Mickey should be impressed
with this groups riding ability. Anne may be the fastest, but she rode
her Mt bike just for the work-out. Ken has a titanium bike made in
Chattanooga---top of the line and is as fast as any around here. He
rode to work for years as a contractor. Has never gotten out of
excellent conditioning. He is vegetarian and has never smoked or drank.
What a group. Then there is Buddy on the Goldrush. **** fast.

We are doing the Philadelphia ride tomorrow morning at 0830. All are
welcome. Look at the Greeneville Hiking Club web site for the schedule.
Call me for directions. My phone numbers are listed here.

... Since I am convinced that I'm soluble in rain,
I've been content to eat to ride, rather than ride to eat,
    since that keeps me indoors.

The green stuff outdoors loves it!

Rode each day except Monday. Got in about 100 miles total. It was a
perfect riding week. Cool, overcast and misty at times. Tuesday on the
Civil War Bridgeburner's ride was absolutely gorgeous and perfect riding
weather with sunglasses. We start all over again Monday with a ride
from Paint Creek TN down along the French Broad River into NC and
back. Wonderful 25 mile ride in the National Forrest.

Oh BTW, We are riding Sunday. Bridgeburner's plus Harmon's Valley.

Rode 34.7 miles today. Bill said he was going to ride with me but at 8:30 am he called my cell phone and backed out. So I started out by myself. But in 3 minutes I spied another recumbent and I caught up and it was Bill's friend Rob Clayton. So we rode and talked all the way to Townsend. Rob turned around at 10 miles and I kept going.

Today was a BEAUTIFUL day!!!! Rode up to the Tremont. Never did that before. Beautiful ride. Ate a Cliff bar turned around and wanted to open up Red to see what she could do. Well I put the hammer down and headed back to the car. My speed was between 18 - 24 MPH. Red flew back even up hills!!! I love it.

Close to the end of the ride I spied some wabbits way ahead of me. Just before we made it back to the cars I passed them. :)

    Final numbers

    34.7 miles
    15.7 MPH average
    2:13 hours / minutes

There was some organized ride going on. I passed (going the opposite way) several groups of DF riders. They were doing some loop. Passed a rest area for them with a big 2 foot passing rule on it.

Hope you got to ride today!!!

(I posted this on BROL because i thought one or two of those guys were gonna show up from the MD area)

1600 Registered Riders- 1599 DF bikes and one recumbent.

A buddy and I showed up at the Civil War Century this morning about 7 am and messed around for about a half hour before we took off on the 65 mile ride. I actually wanted to do the Century but couldn't talk my DF riding buddy into it. (Plus hes bigger than me).

It was a great ride we crossed 4 covered bridges and went through Gettysburg, Battlefield.

All through the ride I was looking for another Recumbent couldn't find any anywhere. At the very end of the ride I saw a tour easy but it was not part pf the official riders. It was a volunteer who was helping out. I told him that there were only two real bikes in this whole event-his and mine He was a very nice gentlemen and I thanked him for volunteering for the event.

I made a video of the ride and my lonely bike. I am hoping that at least 1 or two others where there that I didn't see.

I chased a few people but had to give up because my DF buddy was being left in the dust and i told him i would not leave him..lol

    here is the vid

I had forgotten I have no bikes here at the house except the S'trike. I have not had it on a long ride and was scared of how it would do actually. I'm going to give it a longer ride tomorrow so I can tell if it will be reliable for something like this. Sorry Jon, too many irons in the fire for me. I need to keep at least one bike at the house now instead of everything at the shop.
