    Ed,

We both figured out we both lived in Indianapolis before. I have been to several Indy 500 time trials. (Much cheaper and they raced all day instead of 3 hours and done.)

I think it is really cool you can ride the speedway on a bike. Wish I was there with you. (Especially now that I am sure you passed me in miles again!!)

    Thanks for sharing the videos.

Beech Grove, IN a hometown tour

After a day of rest from the century at Indy, Fred & I took off for the countryside. I make reference early in the video to 8:00 in the morning, that is what time we are to be at a church some 7 miles out of town to meet up with other 60 & 70 year old riders. We put in 50 miles this day over some gently rolling but for the most part 'wash-board' surface country roads.

This was the first weekend I ever rode with Fred, a HS classmate from 51 years ago. He is now back in TX and I in TN.

My fastest ride of the year yesterday. Cooler after rains the night before and overcast. There was a heavy fog which made breathing feel labored before I even mounted the Dragon. The good news, no wind.

I rode one of my usual routes and shaved almost 5 minutes off. My intention wasn't to go as fast as I could, but to ride at the effort I want to maintain at BikeVa. 62.29 miles in 3:10:24 moving time, 3:12:24 total time. Flat in the middle with a bit of climbing on each end for 1786 feet elevation gain. Moving speed was 19.7 mph.

Not too many people out, I stayed ahead of one fast group of 4 riders that were maybe 1/4 mile behind me when I turned around. There was one lady I hadn't seen out in a while, so I slowed for a moment and spoke with her. She was riding a nice new carbon bike with very aero rims.

Started at 6am and was home by 9:30. I'm pretty happy with that.

Well, after several 3.35 mile rides and 7 mile ride, Loke and I finally got out for a 14 mile ride. It wasn't much. Just the Ulva/Gamla Uppsala loop. I must remember to avoid the area around Ulva mill on weekends for a bit. They have a 'trunk flea market' on Sat and SUN which makes WAY too much traffic on the road to the mill. :eek9:

Loke and I got rained on for most of the ride and arrived home wet and nicely tired.

This past weekend was the NorthWest Tour, in the northwest part of Michigan's lower peninsula. For those familiar with Michigan, tour headquarters was in Empire Michigan, with day rides to Traverse City, Frankfort, and Northport. The area includes Leelanau Peninsula and Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. It was my first year doing it. The roads were great, the food was great, the scenery was terrific, but unfortunately my legs weren't quite up to the task. I'll be going through my pictures and trying to write up a report within the next week.

Just under 200 miles in 4 days.

Looking forward to the pics John. Sorry the legs wern't there yet, I hope mine are up for BikeVa next weekend. An easy flat 30 mile ride tonight just to keep the legs fresh. Passed a few people coming and going but nothing special. The wind died just as i was coming back in on the Riverwalk and the Chattahoochee was like glass.

Don't know if it was smart or not but I was tired of sitting here reading so I went out and jumped on the bike to see how it felt. My back was a little sore but it was tolerable. I was only going to do 10 miles which eventually turned into 30.

It was pretty bad towards the end. I kept in the granny gear, my thighs hurt, my knees hurt and I could barely twist my legs to unclip from the peddles. Now my back is not hurting more or less but I was thinking that had to be something do do with it becasue it felt like I was starting all over again. I know a week or so off the bike shouldnt affect me that much.

I rode 18.4 miles yesterday on Knoxville Greenways. I haven't ridden this one (Will Skelton) in a couple of weeks. What I noticed is newly downed trees all over the place plus two that were sawed up because they crossed the path. Whew! What a mess!!!

I'm getting around a hundred miles a week. Wonder if I can post miles
a hundred at a time even though that is not a single ride.

    Bulk entry logging

Yes, multiple rides can be combined and entered as a 'bulk entry'. This is also commonly done when first beginning to tally mileage in order to bring a log up to date.

Thanks Ed. That will help keep Jon happy. Measly miles are better than
    no miles.
