Hehe. Maybe the hardest 2.3 miles! But the 3 mile ice rink ride was worse and took 1.5 hours.

I posted yesterday's 2.3 miles with a surprisingly long babble. Also pictures of a church and unusual runestone. http://terii.wordpress.com/

Getting dressed now for a hopefully longer ride today! Fingers crossed.

    Spring in E.TN.

Decent weather past few, although 25 deg. above average today for this date. Winds have been a problem, but less so today until later this afternoon. Bad storms in KY but haven't yet made it here in E.TN. Did have a spot with a driver that cut me off intentionally so he wouldn't waste 3 seconds on his right turn. I may have made a passing (shouting) reference to his poor geneological heritage as a consequence of his maternal side's improprieties. But felt remorseful and followed my rant with (half of) a Peace sign. Otherwise puttered around back roads and highways. 65 miles, but 2/3 of that was Thursday. No speed or distance records set, no destinations, just watching the world go by.

I managed a FULL ride today! 22+ miles which took me around 3 hours which part of that was hiking across a sheep pasture to take a picture and digging holes to line with a plastic bag as water dishes for Loke since I managed to leave his dish in the car.

It's officially the longest ride of the year. The weather was about perfect. It wasn't wet, it wasn't cold, it wasn't hot and it wasn't insanely windy. It was even mostly/partly sunny! Can't remember the last time THAT happened for a full day.

I'll see about getting photos and blog done tomorrow morning. Right now, I'm going to crawl into bed and pass out. :tongue9:

Glad to see the weather clearing up for your rides!

Got out for a spin today with the local club. About 9 of us did a 27 mile loop. The cows and horses were out and about enjoying the weather.

Did a 16 mile loop from my house, over to the northeast corner of town, down the Melton Lake greenway, then back home from the south end of the greenway. The weather was just a tad on the hot side, a little warmer than usual for this time of year in East Tennessee, as the Rocket said a couple of posts back.

I passed a DF leaving my subdivision, then she passed me on the greenway while I was parked on a bench applying sunscreen to my red knees.

It was a fun ride. Glad to hear you finally managed to get a satisfying ride, Terii. We've had some very windy days recently here, too.

Beautiful day, 68 degree when I started just after 8am with light winds and a heavy fog. I decided to take out the Dragon and stretch her legs a quick jaunt down the Riverwalk into downtown Columbus where I saw several groups of riders preparing to head out. I waved as I passed and one guy sort of acted like he would give chase.

I was already warmed up so I eased her up to 22 or so and dropped him quickly. After about 13 or so miles of flat road I began the climbing portion of the ride. Over the next 15 or 16 miles I would climb about 800 feet. After that a few nice downhill blasts up to 38-40 then back to the flat for a while.

One short steep climb that I hit twice just for good measure then it was back to the Riverwalk and into town. On the way I passed a buddy of mine so I backtracked for a mile or two to say hi. There are three good climbs with 11-13% grades and those dropped my average speed from almost exactly 19 to 18.36 which is where it ended. Total 64 miles in right at 3 hours 30 minutes.

Yesterday's ride blogged. And the one from the day before too.

I would have loved to ride today, but I had an appointment to renew my contact lenses and then laundry. I hate laundry in the summer. Really I do. The weather was nicer today than yesterday so riding would have been perfect. :rolleyes9:

Loved reading about all your good rides!

    ---

My latest was this last Sunday, while most
of the locals I share the road with were safely
    in church:
27 real miles at an average real speed of 15 miles per hour.

    The weather was so warm!
The temp. was close to 80F. at the beginning and over
90F. at the end of the ride.
So, I spun in the middle ring and (-only shifted to my usual
tall gear (big ring) twice) just coasted downhill.

What a difference a few measly MPH make.
I had enough breath to actually greet people with actual
    words, arranged into actual sentences!

    Spring has most definitely sprung.

Rode 17 miles today. One of the windiest day I have ridden in. But it was beautiful.

I was testing out my new visor. Read more about that by clicking here.

Posted on Bike Journal and WHOA!!! Up pops Dave and Ed zooming up the miles. They are like the B-2 stealth bomber. I never saw them and then POW they appeared. Looks like I better get riding. I am going to be left behind (AGAIN!!!)

Thanks for our members for joining us on Bike Journal. We need all the help we can get. Especially since Buddy is loafing around with his pitiful 41 miles. We are going to have to carry him AGAIN!!!!

I looked RRI up and we are now in the top 100 bicycle clubs WORLD WIDE!!! (Currently at 98). So THANKS for everyone putting in the miles!!! And Buddy get off the couch and start riding!!!

My most recent ride was to work and back home today, about 20 miles round trip.

On the way in this morning, it was chilly so I was bundled up. As I approached a red traffic light, an SUV passed me going at a pretty good clip, then braked suddenly and hard to avoid hitting the car already sitting waiting for the light to change. Couldn't he see it sitting there? Glad I didn't get in his way. I almost got to see a collision.

On the way home this evening, it was much warmer, about 69 degrees, so I wore my shorts and short-sleeved recumbent jersey (pockets on the side instead of the back) from Hostel Shoppe. Weather conditions this afternoon were absolutely perfect for riding -- minimal wind, warm enough to be comfortable, but cool enough to be pleasant. I passed a DF rider fixing a flat tire. Stopped to make sure he was okay and had what he needed.

Karen met me on her trike at the entrance to our subdivision and we got to ride home together.

And it looks like I'm gonna get to do it again tomorrow! Woohoo! :jiggy9:

how do you guys keep those odometers working long enough to keep posting all those miles. My Cateye just quit working coming through the mountains in NC so i replaced it with some kind of Sigma junk. But it rained probably 16 to 20 hours a day all the way from Columbia SC to central FL. and the sigma keeps going "bat dung "on me. Told me today i was doing 73 mph, and won't even count my mileage anymore. How do you keep yours out of the weather? :jiggy9:
