My ride today was 12.5 miles dragging the trailer and running errands with an average speed of 7.5 mph.

Loved your post and your stats. When you said your HR wouldn't go above 140. What does this mean? Also goes to show what happens when a couple of riders work together. Good on you.

for me when I can no longer keep my HR up or it wont cliimb with my exertion level it means I am getting dehydrated I think. It might be a nutrition thing also but I tend to think its my fluid status.

My HR when cruising normally will range between 130 and 140. It was dipping down into the high 110's in the last 10 miles.

If you look at my trike stats my adverage is more in line with yours :cool9:

    Re: My Most Recent Ride

My most recent ride was a killer. I had to make a short ride yesterday to get back in time to pour a concrete sidewalk. So today i had a real brainstorm and decided to do the whole 12 mile loop but do it as fast as possible so i could get back in time to do the twenty teen other things we had to do today. So i pounded the pedals pretty much the whole 12 miles. I am still hurting and trying to catch my breath. Don't know my speed. Don't care enough to do the math. ( too tired anyway). But i know it took me 32 minutes and i ended up cheating and not doing the last quarter mile. :knockedout:

22mph average for 11.75 miles. Fast in most anybody's book on this forum.

But ya gotta be careful to not injure yourself from lack of warm-up time, esp. at our age...

    Re: My Most Recent Ride

I keep forgetting that warm up thing .Prolly why i was still trying to recover this morning. Sis still would not give me a break had me up at 6am rebuilding the side wal to her garage from water damage. Could not drink enough water today either. :jiggy9:

I am not even going to attempt to second guess Dave and ax if that math could possibly be correct. But I will say i am glad my computer wasn't working, so i couldn't tell i must be over exerting myself...:yes9:

you would think that the farts would be counter productive on a bent :rofl9:

But without them there would be an explosion that would
have an afterburner effect or worse.

    Re: My Most Recent Ride

The Space Shuttle vents hydrogen to maintain constant, safe pressure. But it vents several hundred meters away to a point where it is safely flared (ignited) off.

Unlike the Shuttle, on a 'bent it's all point of source. The positive: the afterburner effect gives an extra push. The negative: an explosion will instantly burn a hole in the mesh seat, possibly resulting in the rider finding himself sitting astride the main tube.

Now this is something I would really like to see. What will you be using as an ignition source?

    Re: My Most Recent Ride

Bought a new gas grill recently. Will use the spark generator from the old one. Mount the button on my handlebar.
    • Sit back securely in the seat.
    • Play the Flight Attendant's standard crash warning "Brace! Brace! Brace!"
    • Hit the button.
    • Hang on for dear life.
    Whatta ride!

(never start something with Engine-ears around unless you want to see it chopped, disassembled, and absurdly reconstituted. We can't help it. It's just what we do.)

    Re: My Most Recent Ride

I have never required any kind of ignition source. It seems to be a chemical reaction. Give me some kind of adjustable directional vortex and stand by.....:jiggy9:
