There are lots of friendly riders around here, it only seems to be the wannabe crowd that isn't real accepting of bents.

Jon, don't tell yourself you can't. That V-Rex ought to be plenty fast on that flat course.

Organized races usually 12 hour, 24 hour or long distances like RAAM or RAW which is 1000 miles. These races allow do allow recumbents.

Thats cool..I would like to try the RAAM, but you have to do all those qualifying races first and who has that kind of time and money..Well ;ok, I guess i have the time but certainly not the money..And although i have been watching all the video blogs of the RAAM, i don't won't to waste that much time training for it. There is too much country i haven't seen yet...Like that girl used to sing something about her roller skate key; "I don't go too fast.but i go pretty far." :jiggy9:

Gene, that was Hellen Redy who sang that song. No doubt the younger folks here never heard it. "I got a brand new pair of roller skates, you've got a brand new key...."

You don't have to ride a lot of races to qualify either. One will do fine. Also, you do not have to qualify to be in a team, then once you've done RAAM on a team, you are qualified to ride solo without doing any other race.

I ride my bike I roller skate don't drive no car
Don't go very fast but I go pretty far
Sometimes I think that you're avoiding me
I'm okay alone but you got something I need.

I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key
I'd like to get together some time
To try them out you see

    etc., etc.

Ya Gene, that goes back quite a ways. I recall listening to that song shortly after Judy and I was married and that was many, many moons ago paleface!

You never cease to amaze me with what you have stored up there....:jiggy9:

I was reading the RAAM site and I thought it said there was 3 or 4 races you had to do ...Maybe it was 3 or 4 options....I think i heard something about selective memory too... lol :jiggy9:

Gene, no one has ridden RAAM on a trike, you could be a ground breaker.

I thought Melanie Safka sang that song. Helen Redy sang "I Am Woman". Not the same voice or playful attitude. You know the saying...."If you remember the '60's you weren't really there!".

I can't ride right now. Does putting the trike on the kitchen table and turning the cranks with my hands count? That is what I did today, anyway.
