So, for those of you who haven't been here long, my KMX Venom has been pretty altered. I started by removing the VERY heavy seat and replacing it with a carbon fiber Velokraft seat. This dropped the weight down to about 38 LBS and made a huge difference in comfort. Next I went with a Schlumph High Speed Drive which gave me a 27t small chainring and a 67t equivalent thanks to some sort of internal magic. That matched with the 11-32 cassette give me a great range but there is a just a bit of a gap in the 15-17 mph range.

Now, I'm going a bit more radical by switching the front 20" wheels with 24" wheels. This is going to raise the Bottom Bracket and lower the back of the seat making it more aerodynamic. Don't ask me what the seat back angle is because I'm not one of the guys :idunno: I also think it will help my back as I will be pushing more with my upper back and shoulders than with my lower back.

Thanks to Serenity for procuring hubs and rims for me. With that I am also upgrading to the TerraCycle Idler replacements, new KMC ti-Nitride chain, Allligator serration disc rotors and new semi-metallic brake pads. Finishing it off are some Specialized Mondo Sport 24 x 1 tires which are lightweight high pressure racing slicks.

Once she is all setup I'll be posting some pictures. Then the ride reports will roll forth.

Sounds like whether 2 wheels or 3, someone has a need, a need for speed!

Looking forward to some pictures and a report on how it rides. I like the idea of larger wheels, which is why I'm riding a RANS V2 26, easier to roll over things with a larger wheel.

Yep Curtis, I like to go fast. Rolling over objects is part of it also. Those 20" wheels just slam into holes and I'm hoping that 24s will be better. Its going to be a couple of weeks at least before she is ready to unveil.

Almost everything here now, still waiting on the idlers from Utah Trikes. With any luck the wheels will be built and mounted with the new brake hardware today. If so I will try and get pictures up.

Ah Bullllllll, my 406's don't slam into holes. It's not the tar-tyre-tire,
    it's the roed-rowed-road you rode.

Well, I know you are going to do it and looking to see if
you can really get more speed out of it. I'd be putting a 700
on it if it would fit. Now that would get you on down the road.
    Fine tyre it is.

Not wisdommatic and you know it, but when you come into Townsend
next year, I'll race you to Cades Cove and very likely be there before you.
Me with the Lightfoot Greenway and you with whatever little trike/bike
    you are riding.

As you can see with the modifications I doubt you will be able prove
    your boast.

:rolf2:Man you guys are terrible! :jiggy9: this is just too funny! Just keep in mind that we need to play nice together. I do know one thing for sure... with the nice smooth pavement in Cades Cove and no potholes. It will be a blast for you both on your 'bents no matter what! :cool9:

Finally after months and months my beautiful Velocity A23 wheels have arrived. Light and strong with Sapim spokes, I wanted them to be able to be able to take all the lateral forces I can throw at them.

I am going to try and run them tubeless. I have ordered some True Goo tire sealant and in the meantime I used a 20" tube for a tire liner and mounted a Panaracer Pasala on the wheel easily using an air compressor. Once I get the sealant I will take the next step and let you know how it's going.
