Now that we all love the tandem, the PPV is superfluous. Oh, I'd like to fix it up, but I already have too many things going.

So, my side by side 2 seat Velomobile, the PPV is up for grabs. Needs about $150 worth of work and it would be ready to ride again.

If anyone is interested, drop me a line.

    Bill,

Why don't you put another picture of it up on the boards so people can see it?

Ok. Here is a pic. what does it need?
    • One new rear wheel and hub, two new rear tires. Northern Tool, $40 including tires
    • Reassembly of steering linkage (2 spherical rod ends, threaded rod. about $15 worth of stuff. Ask me and I will give you source)
    • Reassembly of old wheel and fork. If you don't want to use the old heavy fork, I have a brand new chromoly fork, tire, tube, v-brakes but you will have to buy them from me for what I paid. (somewhere around $50 or $60 bucks, I'll look at my receipts)Not much.
    • New front tire and tube (if you don't buy the new 16" front fork from me) $25
    • chain link half link for transmission (Lowes: $3.00)
    • some other minor reassembly, tightening of bolts and some pop rivets.

Apparently there is a quite a following for these PPVs across the country. A fellow from Rockford Illinois is coming down this weekend to get it.

Wow. I figured they would be a lot of fun in the right terrain, so that doesn't surprise me. I hope they get it road worthy and will post some info later on about the process here. :smile9:

There is actually a Yahoo group just for PPV owners. Most of them don't make improvements. They restore them just as designed. There are quite a few of these guys in places like Illinois and Iowa where flat land makes these a pretty good vehicle. I like the sociable tandem concept but by the time I would have redesigned that only the shell and seats would have been left. Besides, it is very difficult to transport, fills the whole truck bed.

If you want to see a really nice sociable tandem then look at the 2-Can site.
By the way, I think that one of the major european velomobile companies is bringing out a fully faired sociable tandem next year.
