Hey, I have a question for you all. Which way do you wear your helmets? I have seen some people wear their helmets LOOSE...I have seen some wear them snug/tight...I have seen some with their helmets pushed forward...and backward. I have even seen some people wear their helmets high up on their head almost as if the helmet is too small and does not cover the back cranial part of their head. I wear mine snug not tight...and basically straight up and down. How about you?

On another note I got my hardshell helmet today and it fit like a glove. I can't wait to wear it with my bike.

Snug fit, centered on head, with the keepers adjusted just under the ears. This is the proper way to wear a helmet. The other ways you mentioned loose, pushed forward/back, perched on top are dangerous. Basically they negate any protection. Especially if it is so loose it flys off in a crash.

That is exactly what William said. He used to always check my "gear" before we rode. I guess I got it all down now.hahahaha

    Mike,

So glad to have an "expert" in our midst. :yes9: All your bicycle riding and college training is such an asset for our boards. Thanks for your input!!! I paid attention to Bill's helmet last time we rode. Doesn't "cool" as other bicycle helmets, but definitely looks like it protects your noggin better than the helmet I wear! :yes9:

I am an old motorcycle rider, and his helmet looked much more like my motorcycle helmet than my bicycle helmet. Bill is a smart guy! :yes9: I have learned to listen to what he says. :yes9:

    Re: helmet

Well Jon, I guess you will have another person to laugh at:laugh: ...He bought my new shiny BLACK helmet the other day at Tennessee Bicycles on Chapman hwy. I am going to get some decals to put on it...but not anything like the ones you find on Harley's if you know what I mean.

I looked at the helmet carefully. It is at least 1/8" thick on the outer shell and the foam is pretty good, standard bike helmets have foam and a THIN plastic covering that is more like a tape than anything. The fit I get from my new helmet is better than anything I have ever put on my head. It has ventilation ports just not like the typical bike helmet. Which if you think about it. The more ventilation ports you have the less area you have to cover and protect your head, and I thought head protection was what it all supposed to be about. As long as it protects me I am OK.:cool9:

    Jon,

The really nice Bell Faction helmets are sold out at that shop. I got the last one. You can get a nice metallic red Makai helmet like mine from Nashbar though....... There are a few other colors too.
