At 30 years of age, I’m experiencing what’s often referred to as “middle age spread”, meaning my size 32 pants no longer fit. I finally see why my fellow geeks wear T-shirts emblazoned with dragons and wolves and Geordi La Forge: it distracts the eye from the Mountain Dew belly.

I don’t want to be one of those guys, I look bad in shirts with Xbox logos. But I spend ten hours a day sitting at a desk, and drive my *** everywhere (edit: Hickey has a drivable ***. - Blake). And I’m too busy for a gym. I’ve been hoping for a solution, and the nice people at Slim Geek have come up with a something that looks perfect.

It’s a desk with a built-in recumbent exercise bicycle. It is a work of genius. Don’t let the circa-1997 Compaq 5800-series computer in the logo fool you, friends, these people obviously know their target audience. There’s even a girl in the photo. Yes, that’s what they look like, and after a few weeks at this desk, maybe you can meet one someday.

    Also:
You wanna feel the burn throughout the day to truly lose weight. You’ve seen it before, but it makes sense. The Geek-a-cycle really is a combo computer desk/recumbent bike. You pedal while you download your porn. Awesome. Get one.

It actually is a pretty neat idea, and their Cycle For Life page discusses that in length. Reading, in part:

People who are overweight or obese are at increased risk for

    • Congestive heart failure
    • Coronary heart disease
    • Gallstones
    • Gout
    • High blood cholesterol
    • High blood pressure
    • Obstructive sleep apnea and respiratory problems
    • Osteoarthritis
    • Psychological disorders (such as depression, eating disorders, distorted body image, and low self esteem)
    • Some types of cancer (such as endometrial, breast, prostate, and colon)
    • Stroke
    • Type 2 (non-insulin dependent) diabetes
My guess is if you were at the computer very long each day, it'd have to make a difference before long. :yes9:

For the difference in price though, I think I'd opt to build my own Workstation Desk and just order the Recumbent Exercise Bicycle portion, especially once the S&H is added on.

Anyway, looks like they can be ordered from the "Slim Geek" website.
