River Road/Coulter Bridge, Maryville TN (MAP/DIRECTIONS)

Coulter Bridge is seen in the aerial picture below on the left hand side. This is where most people begin a ride from, when they refer to riding River Road.(or in actuality, the Old Walland Highway)

The 'parking lot' most people refer to is located at the intersection of 3 roads: Tuckaleechee Pike, Old Walland Highway and Ellejoy Road.(i.e. vehicles parked just above the wording 'Ellejoy Rd.')

Attached below is also the typical River Road Ride route.(around Maryville, Walland & Townsend, TN) The WALLAND file shows the 9mi route between Coulter Bridge and the beginning of Townsend, with Walland being about in the middle.

 

Directions per RealEngr:

From Knoxville, TN take Hwy 129 into Maryville to Hwy 321 directed to Townsend.

Continue on Hwy 321 past the hospital, going approximately 4 to 5 miles out of town.

You will pass a Sunoco Station on the left. Continue on until you see an Aztex Station on the left.(pic attached below) You will immediately go over a small bridge on Hwy 321.(pic also attached)

Turn left by the car wash on Autumn Drive.(last pic) Continue around past the Baptist Church and behind Heritage High School.

Immediately after passing Heritage High School, you will cross the bridge over the Little River. After crossing the bridge you will see a parking lot on left.​

Ok, to get to "The (Coulter) Bridge" from points East:

Exit I-40 at 407 go towards Dollywood on Hwy66.(i.e. Winfield Dunn Pkwy)

Right on Boyd's Creek (Highway 338) at traffic light.
Don't miss Boyd's Creek. If you do, turn around and
come back. Terrible things will happen to you.

Go a bunch of miles (11.9mi) to Chapman Highway at traffic light.
Big intersection.(McDonalds, etc.)

Go straight across Chapman Highway, and keep on keeping on. You are
now on Hwy 411 and Hwy 35.

In 7-9 miles (actually 8.3) turn left on River Ford Drive.(1st pic)

River Ford dead ends into Ellejoy Rd in 1.6mi. Turn Right (2nd pic)
