I'm selling this electric recumbent Bike-E bicycle. After putting together several e-bikes prior to this one this was the culmination of all the things I learned from the others and I built this to be a comfortable, high performance, car replacement form of transportation. The bike is based on an XL frame Bike-E AT (Air Technology) recumbent bicycle that was designed in Corvallis Oregon. I specifically selected this model because it had the best qualities for converting to electric power. The rear shock (somewhat of a rarity on recumbent bikes) would give a level of comfort that most electric bikes can only dream of, and the XL frame size would put most of the weight of the bike in between the wheels and give better handling. This example also has the more desirable high back seat and it's in perfect condition. I also had the seat done with high quality motorcycle seat upholstery at Ed's upholstery in Ashland so the seat doesn't absorb water if you happen to be out in the rain. Front brake is a Sturmey-Archer XL-FD drum brake that works VERY well in the Bike-E, requires almost zero maintenance, us extremely quiet, and the weather doesn't effect it's performance at all. The battery is a 16ah 52v Lion battery and while it's a little old, still performs very well and I suspect still has practically the same capacity it had the day I got it as it has been very well cared for and has a low cycle count. Since I built the bike it's only had a little under 1,000 miles on it. I took it around the neighborhood yesterday and it still performs the way it did the last time I rode it.

I would very much prefer to sell this to someone that has e-bike experience that already knows how to ride recumbent. If you aren't already VERY comfortable riding a recumbent bicycle, please look elsewhere. This bike is capable of almost 30 mph on flat level ground and gas very high torque. Thus is not a bike to learn on!

The motor is a high torque MAC gear motor. I forget how many amps the controller is, but it peaks on the CycleAnalyst at about 2k watts. There is a power selector switch on the handlebar for eco, normal, and performance. I rarely rode in the performance mode because normal was always enough for me. Normal mode puts the top speed right around 25mph.

Now for the not so good. One particularly hot day I was riding on the Greenway abd heard a POP. Something popped in the controller. It still performs exactly as it did before the pop, but the CycleAnalyst readings are no longer accurate fir the power readings. It was "on my list" of things to take care of but I never got around to it. You can definitely ride it as is, but it will be similar to driving a car with a broken gas gauge. Keep an eye on your milage and you'll be fine. Other than that, there's really not much else wrong.

    A few other upgrades.

Maxxis Hookworm on the front, Holy Roller on the rear.

    Hotshot Cygolite rear taillight

    MTX cargo bag.

    Cycle Luminator headlight.

    Rearview mirror

    Front Fender

Sale would also include a custom cargo trailer for the best car alternative transportation cargo hauling!

Original (and unused) Bike-E rear cargo bag included too.
