Does Anyone Still Make Rans Seats?

I have ridden so many recumbent seats in my life, and the classic RANS still feels best to me.

With the demise of Rans, will anyone else fabricate this seat as a replacement on Rans bikes and the many other recumbents like Barcroft that used them?

Rans has morphed into Phoenix Bike WRX. They have the seats because they sell what was the Rans Phoenix and the Rans line of Crank Forward bikes.

Their only bike that uses the Rans seat is the Phoenix, and they refuse to supply replacement parts for Rans bikes. They have next to nothing in stock. I don't think Phoenix Bike WRX will be around for long. Hope someone will at least pick the seat up for manufacture.

I didn't know they wouldn't sell any. I assume they are sourced from Asia in bulk.

Just found out I was wrong. Phoenix does sell just the seat, and parts for the seat separately. So we can repair our seats as long as they stay in business.

Good news. I started my recumbent journey with 2 V Rexs! :) They were my go to bent. Rode the Katy and Erie Canal trails on them and they worked like a charm!

Glad to see RR seats no longer attach with hose clamps. But do you miss the seat cushion on this all mesh seat? Is it durable?

Does AD Carson fabricate the seats?

Not my bike. Just a photo I grabbed off the web. I know a Stratus XP rider that uses a 1" foam pad on her AD Carson seat. Yes, AD Carson still makes the seats.

I believe that Lightning uses a mesh seat, with a foam butt pad. No reason why a combination seat can't be concocted. Put a foam pad on a RR seat if you want more padding?

    Henrius,

I replaced my RANS standard seat with a custom Recycled Recumbent seat (1-1/2" wider) for my SXP two years ago. I immediately began to enjoy the more power I felt during riding. After a hundred miles or so, the "sling mesh" seat broke in nicely. The seat's lumbar curve is very supportive.
