I can’t speak for bike/trike riding, but I can speak to flexibility. I’m on a senior bowling league and many there have had knee replacements.

Most say it’s 9-12 months before they regain total range-of-motion, ‘if’ they do their physical therapy. :exercise:

On the flip side, those who don’t perform the therapy often end up with just 15-25 degrees of movement. :embarrassed9:

Congrats on your surgery though, I’m sure you were in pain/discomfort since you pursued it. Here’s hoping your recovery is both speedy & solid.

... well .... Both of mine were replaced .... the Right one some 14 years ago and the Left one 11 ago - (both now well past the quoted '10-year warranty period') - and can say that by diligently following the prescribed course of physical therapy afterwards I was able to get back to pedalling within a very few months. The therapy included a lot of pedalling ... !

    Hey Mick,
Out of curiosity, can you tell any wear on the artificial knee joints? By that I mean, over the years have they started acting any differently since implanted?

Hi A.D. .... Wear ? Not really ! Last Spring, after SWMBO shattered her Femur, I brought up the subject with her surgeon - (a partner of my own surgeon) - and his feeling was that I probably never would, and to ignore the "10-year warranty bit" ! On the other hand over the past 2-3 years I have noted progressive changes in the muscle/tendon structure around both joints. Barely noticeable when I get up each morning, a sort of stiffness, starting around the actual knee joint itself, gradually develops during the day and works its' way upwards until the frontal area of the whole thigh is involved by nightfall. The intensity of the stiffness and associated pain have increased over time ... more annoying than anything !

 Thanxx for the informative reply. I just never heard hardly anything about joint replacements, a decade or two later. And I've never heard anything specific about when an older joint replacement is updated with newer technology, about the 'wear' conditions of the previous one. Hopefully for good reason! :laugh9:
