I am offically hosting the weekly ROCKET Riders River Road Recumbent Ride (R5 Ride) each week. We meet at 8am at the Coulter Bridge parking lot behind Heritage High School. Recumbents and DFs welcome. Right now we have 6 regular riders. The ride is from the bridge to the Townsend Y for a total mileage of 30 miles. If one wants to ride shorter distances you can double back at any time. This is a medium pace ride with several strong riders but we only maintain a typical average 13mph so most can keep up. No official sweepers on this ride but we will probably start assigning some if we get more people. If you want a regular ride with many fellow bent riders, this is your ride. If we get more and the group wants to split into casual and aggressive groups, then that's great. I'm trying to get the RR group going again on some group rides. Am willing to push and organize other rides at other locations too (we should all go up to ride with Buddy and Dave sometime).

We meet tomorrow at 8 once again. See you there.

Wild Bill, Dave's up around Canada somewhere with his bride, Don's in
Europe, Al has his motor home tuned up, Mickey has been camping who
knows what Wells is up to. Where is Will? I've been riding my Greenspeed
GT-3 every day out on the Tusculum trail while my Mary is on a cruise
in the south Atlantic. But life is good. You schedule Sunday morning ride
at 8 and I don't see the SUN 'till 9 and It's an hour drive to the bridge
from here. Sure would be fun to get the group together just one time
before I die. Maybe they are waiting for me to die.

    Buddy,
We are perfectly willing to do alternate rides. Go ahead and organize a ride up there. I've got a new group of riders down here and I think we could convince them to come on up.

In the meantime, we will continue to host this weekly ride, hoping some of the old group will see fit to visit again when they get done with whatever trips they are traveling on.

If you would like me to change the time on this so you can come on down, let me know. Next week, we will be doing the same ride, but the following week (june 28) probably will not have the ride since many of the same group are headed to Cincinnati to the Creation Museum.

Heads Up!!! We are riding again on Sunday morning if it doesn't rain. 8am at the bridge. This is turning out to be a pretty nice medium pace recumbent ride. Some in this group are talking about doing the MS150 in Franklin this fall. We may have a team.

Join us if you like. What happened to all the trike riders? Betty Jo? AD? Come on out everybody.

It will be nice to see you again Sally. Keila will be happy that another female is going to be out there riding. We were planning on bringing the tandem, but if you are coming along she may just ride her SWB.

You picked the easy way out. You may have a much bigger job
resurrecting Rocket Riders. I know a couple that are dead as a door nail. Example: Smart feller called Ray. Where is he any way?
You want me to name some more?

Rolled out of the sack at five, hit the road at 6:45 and it was
raining in Greene County. Got to the Chapman highway intersection
and Bill called and told me everyone had canceled. I explained I
was going on to the bridge and wait. Good decision. Not raining.
Got the GT3 out and tuned it up and aired the tires. Started to
sprinkle so covered it with a shower curtain and drunk coffee and
enjoyed myself sitting on the tail gate of the Caravan with the hatch
up. Called some people...free minutes on week-ends.

Anyway, Bill and Keila showed up and we rode off about 10:15. It
was a beautiful bright day. I liked it a lot. I always like riding with
    old friends.

Got back home mid afternoon and Mary drove me to Cracker Barrel
and I ate too much so took another 10 mile ride on the Tusculum
trail at sundown. Good place to ride after dark. Only did about 28
miles for the day, but very good miles and with fine people.

Hope all of you had a wonderful fathers day.

    Good for you!
It was just as well that I decided to cancel due to rain because I did not feel so great either.

Was a pretty hot weekend and I worked outside all day saturday.
Sunday I spent part of the day getting ready for a cookout and the rest having the cookout. I was kind of being unrealistic that I could get up and go for a bikeride and then put on the cookout as well.

Anyway maybe next time I will get to go.

Best wishes for some good riding this week.
    Sally

Oh yeah, the sunday ride was excellent! It was Goo nice to see Buddy again. he was looking so good. His little trike was cute too. Since it had stormed that morning the air had cooled off a little, but not a whole lot. We rode to Kinzel springs since we did get a later start and the sun was beginning to warm things up fast. I did so much better this time. I was really feeling good. In fact in order for me to beat the heat, I sort of took off and left William and buddy to ride together. Hope they didn't mind. I got back to the truck about 5 minutes before they did. They didn't even look like they had broken a sweat. It was a good ride and I hope more can make it the next time.
