    My intention is to help educate newer members here (in the Chattanooga, Knoxville & East Tennessee areas) exactly what R.O.C.K.E.T. was, before this board (i.e. RRI) ever came about. In it's heyday, there was a lot of involvement, from a lot of folks and they enjoyed the events that were either put on, or the group chose to participate in.

    I'll leave the history of R.O.C.K.E.T. Riders for former participants to post, but we are MOST interested in hearing what it was to YOU. And if you weren't involved :o_O9:, feel-free to jump into the conversation and question/comment-on anything you read here. :wink9:

    Feel free to re-post any old messages, memories, pictures and/or events to help share with others here exactly what R.O.C.K.E.T. was to you.

    Hopefully this thread will somewhat help aid in the resurrection of the ROCKET Riders club once again. :yes9: I plan to 'stick' this thread at the top of Knoxville Forum so it will help inform anyone interested, in learning just What was R.O.C.K.E.T...?

    Memories. I'll try to dig up my early postings. I bought my first & only 'bent, the Rocket, in December 2002. First contact with other 'bent riders was Oct. 18, 2003 at the Knoxville Neighborhood Ride. First ride with local RRI people was January 2005 in Walland with Bill and Don and some others, and later in February 2005 with Jon and Buddy and Don at World's Fair Park. Had about 3,000 miles on the Rocket by the latter. Now approaching 20,000 miles.

    ...hmm, so the cat's got E-V-E-R-Y-body's tongue eh? :eek9: Well allow me to spill some beans about R.O.C.K.E.T. . . .

    I'm finally home so I dug up a pic of one of our more memorable rides over at Fall Creek Falls. It was back in Jan '06 and there was snow on the ground the weekend we had decided to meet up and spend a couple of days there. Several of us went together to rent an apartment for a couple of days and enjoy the scenery whilst out riding around in the park.

    The reason I appear so happy in the first pic below, is because I managed to beat out Buddy to Win a "Most Gadgets On Bent" Award as seen in the second pic alongside Jon. :wink9:

    We had good food, reasonable weather, and some great fellowship! :grouphug:

    Well, I remember the trips ROCKET riders made to MidTen for stuff like the Trace ride. One of those rides (spring 2008?) was my first group ride on a 'bent. Actually, it was my first group ride on a road bike, as I had been forced by a back injury to give up mountain biking. I'm not as active online as I was because I simply haven't got as much time - being back in school and all - but I still ride around MidTen. If any of you ROCKETS make it this way, shoot me a message, let me know. I'll go out of my way to ride with you if at all possible.

    I got to sit on Drew's (Cotharyus) Scorpion Trike that day in the back of his pickup at the restaurant, and I must say it's the easiest trike to get in to & out of I've come across to date. Nice ride indeed! :cool9:

    Wish we lived closer, because the Natchez Trace was a beautiful ride that day. I also got to ride with Gene (calboy147) and see Larry (dedeye450 Yazoo Blue) again that day as well. Bob pedaled all the way up from Chattanooga. Most impressive. :yes9:

    I dug up some ROCKET pictures for you. Here are some blasts out of the past!!! (Most folks are still with us.)

    There were two purposes for ROCKET.

    1. To get recumbent riders together to ride.
    2. Have fun. (You can tell that from the second pictures.)

    These are the same two principles of RRI.
