Agreed. So I did another 20.1 miles today! Lots of DF riders out. Got passed like I was sitting still with one guy. Another guy passed me slowly. Bad mistake. Got behind him. I was coasting on a slight downgrade while he was peddling. I had to hit my brakes to stay behind. Then of a flat stretch he quit peddling to coast. I rang my little red bell and pass. He picked up the pace but could never catch me.

    Hey Brick,

Too many miles for me, but the Catrike Trail has over 150 miles on it
since purchase in late December. The Tusculum trail has been a real
test for it. The trail still has about 2 inches of water. It may be coming
from a wet weather spring. This section of the trail was covered for
1/4 mile, but was down to about 100 feet today. The water comes up
over the rims, but not up to the bottom of the seat. Happy with my
new Catrike and hope you are liking your Ice Trike. Where are the pics
    and ride reports.

9.42 miles today. Jens talked his parents into keeping an eye on Loke and we went up to Sundsvall, a small 'city' where Jens had meetings. It's about 200 miles north of Uppsala. They still had snow up there. I'd hoped to get 14.6 miles for the 2nd January goal, but it didn't happen. I was exactly 5 miles short, but the SUN was setting and my legs just refused to push any more. It was a rough ride from start to finish.

The last time I felt this wiped from a ride was back in June when I did 41+ miles between Munkfors and Karlstad.

Sundsvall is heavily industrialized, but a little island just off shore of it is more rural and residential. That's where I rode. Very hilly, snowy roads and windy. The skies were mostly clear for a large part of the ride though which was quite nice.

Though I didn't beat the total mileage of Jan-March 2012, I think it's still the most miles I've ever ridden in January. That's something at least... and I've still got a good boost over last year's mileage.

I'll post a better ride report with photos on my blog tomorrow or the next day. Now, I'm going to rub my knees down with some pain relief gel and fall into bed.

The ride report was delayed thanks to another trip to the vet. The toe was swollen and he'd licked all the hair off. *sigh* :sad9:

But I just published it. Some nice pictures and rambling description of the day.

35F today, but got the Greenspeed tandem out for the first ride of the year. 35 cold miles, but it was running really well, it may be a real slouch up hills, but once it's stoked up it moves really well on the flat and like a rocket downhill !

Havn't been posting much, started the year riding mostly my MTB. A good week this week four rides totaling 77 miles with over 5200 feet of climbing all on the Venom. The ride yesterday and today were both cold. Yesterday's ride started at 28 degrees and stayed there the whole time.

The Windcheetah is getting some new drivetrain components. XTR short cage rear dérailleur with a 12-25 cassette. On the front 42t and 54t Q rings. A new light KMC chain rounds it out. She will be up and ready when rabbit season opens.

I am also having a friend of mine build a bike for me. The moving front Bottom Bracket has interested me for a while and i like the aerodynamic seating position of the Vendetta. Post by Yakmurph have fueled the fire even more. I decided having had a multitude of platforms, I would not be happy until I tried this out.

This is sort of what I have in mind. Some modifications are a cyclocross front disc brake fork to enable me to run wider tires if the mood strikes me. I also have become a big fan of mechanical disc brakes with all of the steep little hills we have around here. I have a CF seat to mount, drive train, bar-end shifters, I am just trying to decide on what handlebars and tires.

    Ooh! Another snow rider! :jiggy9:

The snow that disappeared last week is supposed to be replaced over the next few days. Maybe I'll get out. It all depends on when/if Jens can work from home since Loke can't be left alone with a Victorian collar on. :sad9:

Ward, are you talking about a double crankset? If so you will be pushing some big gears on the hills.

Got in 16.7 miles today. Low 40s but the thermal underwear made it a GREAT trip.

I had NO TRAFFIC today on the greenway. Had not ridden this trail for a couple of months. It was so much fun "discovering" it again!
