Ward, rode again today after the storm went through. Took the Greenspeed GTO, love that trike. Now let me preach to you. Checked my numbers this morning and you will understand. Here they are: 125/65, 54 resting, 81 sugar, 74 old and 195 with clothes. Have not had the crud of any kind in years. Never take the flu shot, it gives the flu. My secret: 500mg C every day 365 days a year....never touch cows milk, replaced with Silk Almond and never ingest, knowingly, any animal product. Never eat anything that has a mother or a face. Life is good and getting better. Rides are good in winter, too hot in summer. Now kick the crud and go ride.

    Allow me a personal PSA:
Much unnecessary misery is inflicted upon the unfortunates who believe the myth that a flu vaccination can or did give them the flu. Getting the flu after getting the trivalent (3 virus) shot may result from prior exposure, a different strain of virus, or an inadequate immune system. But the vaccine injection is made from a killed virus and will not/cannot give you the flu.

I had the flu over 25 years ago and swore if I lived through it I'd always get the annual vaccine. Maybe just luck, maybe the vaccine, but haven't had the flu since.

    Yeah Right engine-ear

That some-bench may be killed but when it gets inside yourself, it comes to life. Took and gave flu shots in the Air Force a lot of years in a row and handed out aspirin to counter the swollen painful arm and fever. Decide to keep immune system boosted with vitamin C. It has worked many a year. Have had the flu one time and that may have been Valley Fever in Bakersfield Ca cirta 1969. YMMV

    Saturday ride

Did the Tusculum Trail. Parked at the College end and rode to Greene Valley Developmental Center. Thirty eight degrees with 90% humidity and it did feel cold. Was glad to get back to the van. Got to do it though or will just give up and say it is too cold. I'll be better prepaired for the next ride with the group. The end of the week will be dry and warmer.

Oh, almost forgot. Rode the RANS Cruz. It is geared low and handled the very steep hills of the trail well. It has 22-32-42 up front and 11-34 on the back and setting on 26" tires. Nice and lots of fun.

Glad to see some people getting out for rides. We've had very mild weather... except for crazy winds. A touch of snow, but it's now vanishing fast.

I've just not had the heart to ride. Stressed with dealing with a persistent outbreak in Loke's feet. Also more than a little anxious about spending the first 3 months of 2014 having 6 teeth removed in 4 appointments and the recovery time. Just no energy for struggling into multiple layers and assembling the trike for yet another river loop.

I can't even seem to gather the oomph to get out for those last 30 miles to break 1000 for the year. :no9:

Well, got about a half mile today.

The temperature took a sharp jump from 28 F to 38 F over the past 2 days. The snow vanished and the SUN was out. I decided to take Loke for a short run.

What a disaster. I tried it with socks first, but after the first 100 yards, I had to stop and go back for them twice. Tried running him without them, but he limped because it hurt his front feet apparently.

Soooo we went back to the apartment where I locked the trike in back and took Loke for a walk instead. My devious plan was to have him forget the trike was out and go for a short ride once done with the walk. It's worked in the past.

Not this time. I left the apartment and had barely made it out of the building when he started howling. *sigh* So, I brought him out with me and let him stand around while I put the trike back in the car.

Yeah, yeah. He was supposed to get old and tired in another 2 or 3 years before being unable to run with the trike. Not bad feet and arthritic, but the muscles and energy of a 4 year old husky. :rolleyes9:

Rode today. A whole 10.2 miles. I was winded. :(

Don't you have a trainer??? Despite being boring...it just might help keep your lungs in shape.
