A good ride on the Fujin. I am still having chainline issues but if I stay in the larger cogs on the cassette it usually won't jump off the idlers. I wanted to keep the power at about 80-85% which had the little bike moving along at about 18mph on the flats. This with the flat route would work out well.

I did start out a bit slower than that because I met up with a few friends. They were only riding about 20 miles so we eased along chatting. After breaking with them I hit the stride I was looking for and began to really enjoy this little bike. The frame really soaks up bumps nicely yet transmits power well to the ground.

On the way back in I found a group of four to play with. All riding nice bikes there was one guy on a Cervelo that REALLY didn't want me to pass him....but I did. After I passed him I eased it back a bit to keep him interested. For the next 5 miles I would play a bit of cat and mouse, easing up letting him get close then kicking it hard and leaving him way behind for a bit.

    Feeling the burn!

Did 14.5+ miles today. Mostly sunny skies and 72 F. Would have been perfect if the Swedish summer SUN didn't feel so HOT! :rolleyes9:

6.53 miles was an outing with Loke. Did the distance in about 53 minutes. If it had been a touch cooler it would have been a bit faster, but about mile 3, he started dragging even with wet ears and plenty of water to drink. Poor puppy.

After dropping the furball at home with a full dish of cold water and a brisk rub down with a cold, wet towel, I ran back out for another River Loop. Added a bit more distance and spun like a mad woman. 12 mph average as I finished up 8.03 miles in a smidge over 39 minutes. My legs HATE me right now. I can shrug off the muscle burn, but the knees are aggravating given that I was careful to not mash. Ah well...

Before reading my post click here to start the mp3 music.

I finally rode today. :jiggy9: First time in the month of July. We have had non stop rain here. Through June we equal what we normally get in a WHOLE YEAR in East Tennessee.

And it is supposed to rain this afternoon, but I went out early and got a little over 20 miles in. I was so happy to be back on my bent!!!! I have been lifting weights and walking on the thread mill but neither of those exercises make me grin like riding my recumbent!!!

    So hallelujah!!!!

Another sprint today. Just 4+ miles as opposed to 8. Don't want to go breaking myself before Denmark.

Energy and stamina wise, it felt much harder. Could be my diet change (slashed all processed starches as well as potatoes). Just fruits, veggies, lean meats and nuts. It's driving me bonkers as well as leaving me with hunger pangs and headaches, but I'm trying since it seems my reactive hypoglycemia might be in full force for the first time since moving to Sweden.

Or it just might have been the wind which went from dead calm as I stepped out the door to assemble the trike to ripping half-grown apples from the trees as I plopped into the seat. The first 2 miles or so took almost 15 minutes. The last 2+ miles took about 8 minutes.

Kind of embarrassing to talk about those speeds in terms of a 'sprint'. Most people seems like they're more like 'YEAH! I did 90 miles in an hour!' Okay, so I exaggerate, but still. :tongue9:

Nah. If it is a sprint to you, then it is a sprint. Doesn't matter what others do!!!! (That is my mantra every time I think I am cruising at a good speed and a really fast DF rider passes me like I am standing still!!)

I had fallen behind posting on BikeJournal, fixed that today. Another ride on the Fujin with lots of hills this time. Funny, not nearly as fast as the Cheetah. Probably due to loss of fitness from the shoulder separation and broken ribs. I have put on five pounds as well waiting for stuff to heal. Hopefully that trend will start reversing.

Serenity, have you been able to get out and ride?

Another ride today. Loke's going to be left alone for a few hours this evening as Jens is determined to go out to eat this evening. Just what my fragile will power needs diet wise.

Still, it meant I was motivated to get Loke out for some miles. 8.36 of them to be exact. Maybe it was the cool morning air (52 F) or that it's been a few days since his last vigorous exercise, but I think he maintained his best speed for the River Loop since the snows melted. 6.75 mph average.

I might go for another short ride tomorrow to exercise both Loke and I since we'll be in the car for most of Sunday. Nothing too hard as I want to be nice and fresh for 3+ consecutive days of riding in Denmark.

I can't wait! Mounds with burial chambers you can walk into! White chalk cliffs! The churches in Denmark look markedly different from Swedish country churches, but from what little I've seen in photos, I think I'll get bored of them after the first 3 or so. They lack the sheer variety of the ones here. Almost look as if they've been made from the same exact blue-print by the same architect. Just different colours.

No, most of my days are spent in the bike shop placing orders, working on other folks bikes or sitting around watching time go by.:sad9: I am afraid it has been so long since I have done a real ride, my lungs are out of shape, my legs are weak and pitiful looking and even if I tried to ride I can't go any distance before tiring out so bad it doesn't seem worth getting out there and trying. I have gone in circles in the parking lot here at the shop on th little BikeE, just to keep up the memory of riding, but all that does is make me discouraged. So I read all the posts online and get my thrills that way.

Rode today, wish I had reports of rabbit chasing but no such luck. I only saw one rider period and he was going the other way. It wasn't raining but the humidity was so high that water collected on my skin. Temperature was good at 77 degrees which made up a lot.

I am settling in on the Fujin, getting used to having the compact gearing (which I am not crazy about ) but loving the light weight. The legs were dead today and I had to fight for each mile. I cannot begin to understand how the TdF riders much feel day after day.
