    Hehe.

I finally got around to post about the last 3 or 4 rides on my blog. 2 of them only get brief mention, being the River Loop with not much happening. The ride on the 26th has lots and lots of photos and a much longer description. Lots of gorgeous scenery, a few runestones, churches, a couple of baby horses one of which couldn't have been more than a couple days old.

9.36 miles today. Jens had an early flight so I took Loke for a River Loop with a little extra. Loke went pretty quick through the grave mound area, but slowed down as if getting stuck in cold molasses as soon as we rejoined the river section.

Saw a few baby birds. One little sparrow fledgling must have just been out of the nest. When he tried to fly out of our way, his stubby little wings were a blur as he strained for a little height and distance. It was like watching a fat humming bird. Too cute.

Rode 16.7 miles yesterday. Getting ready for my annual Bike Ride vacation. Every year I try to find a new Rails to Trail I have not ridden before. The last two years I rode the Erie Canal trail starting in Buffalo NY (Niagara Falls) to Albany NY (State capital). It was a great trip.

This year I am riding the C&O Trail. Start next week. Plan to take pictures and put a write up under "Epic Rides". Can't wait!!! Starting at Leesburg, VA and ending at Cumberland MD. Total 150 miles in 3 days of riding. Hope for good weather. Will be taking my trusty V Rex which now sports fenders in case of rain or wet trail riding!

    Vacations

Wish I could get my motivation & make time for a cycling vacation. We used to do 2 or 3 multi-day tips annually. Somehow have gotten away from it.

Leaving next Friday for one of the capital cycling areas, Portand, OR. 12
days of driving & sightseeing incl. Seattle, Olympic Natl Park, N Cascades NP, Mt Rainier NP, Crater Lake NP, Redwoods NP, & a trip down Hwy 101 along the Oregon Coast. Only problem is we won't have cycles with us.

Now Dave, that would be such a shame. To go all that way and not do any cycling. Have you ever though of shipping your recumbent ahead of you to your destination and then getting put together to ride?

Good. Maybe this will be the first year in history I end up with more miles than you. But I doubt it! :no9:

Jon, were you in Townsend the other day? I thought for sure I saw you whizzing by. I knew it was not Terry or Don, so I assumed it was you. The person was really moving!

Glad to see other people riding!

I've been getting out as well. Mostly short little River Loops since we found another episode of infection on Loke's right paw June 1st. It's being slow to respond to treatment, but Jens went out of town on Monday and won't be back until Friday. Monday walked with Loke instead of triked since we went to the vet and his foot hurt more thanks to the shaving and scrubbing.

Tuesday, did a short, slow river loop with Loke. It was better on us both than my pitifully short walks. Afterwards I went on a longer solo ride past the grave mounds then into the heart of Uppsala and even up to the castle courtyard.

Yesterday was another basic River Loop for Loke and as a recovery ride for myself. That 14 solo miles just about _killed_ me. Goes to show how much I hammer down when alone.

Just a handful of photos, but there's a pair of embedded videos. The first one is the mad dash along the Grave Mound trail from trike eye view. The 2nd is a short clip taken with my iPhone of a group of Ecuadorian musicians performing in one of Uppsala's street squares.

Another 2 rides today. 4.something miles with Loke, slowly because of his foot.

Then I went out for a solo ride, heading for the city forest. In spite of the mosquitoes, I thoroughly enjoyed riding along the paths, most of them are good packed earth with a sprinkling of conifer needles and a tree root to dodge here or there. The rest are fine crushed gravel. All of it was under delightful shade. Some of it let me go quite fast and where I went slow, I just savored the quiet broken only by bird song.

Coming back home through downtown Uppsala made up for the peace of the forest. Carnivals and concerts with people sprawled in the SUN on every bit of riverside boardwalk or sunny grassy spots in every inch of city parkland. Those who aren't roasting themselves are strolling along at 1 mph eating ice cream. Teach me to keep track of when Sweden's National Day happens. :rolleyes9:

That ride finished with 14.5 thanks to zipping along several different loops through the forest. 74 F and pure blue skies with not much wind.

Well, I was off the trikes for three weeks. Took a fall on the MTB that resulted in a separated shoulder (AC joint) and two fractured ribs. I was able to,get out on the Cheetah for a short flat ride Sunday with Betty on her new Serian SL with USS. So far so good I think this might be the one. She was comfortable and liked the longer wheelbase of the Serian vs the Fujin.

Hmm, I saw a guy yesterday...following a gal on a DF. Not 100% sure, but I think it was Terry this time.
