    My milage has been slipping some lately. I've had a problem with a sinus infection for 3 weeks now. Only got 7 miles in yesterday, but hope to do 25 today. Still well on my way to 5000 for the year though!

    Can't relate to 5k. Did 3k in 06 and didn't get much else done. You must be
    riding from church to church. Nock wood, but I've not had sinus problems
    in about 15 years. I gave up all dairy about that time. Use almond milk
    because all other soy Silk have caragenan and that is a recorded carcinogen.
    Be careful on that Corsa. They've been known to give people rash...Road
    rash and stuff.

    Last night out for a short ride before dark. Wanted to get some climbing in and I think I managed. 18.5 miles with Over 1400 feet of climbing. Had to wait a few times for my friend Liner to catch up.

    Made it out today. 64 degrees and sunny. BEAUTIFUL. 20 miles.

    Only DF rider I saw was just getting started when I was putting my bent on my bike rack to leave. She asked a lot of questions about my bent. Said she has never seen one before. Always glad to spread the "bent" gospel!!!

    Cops Are Not My Friends

    As I was signalling a left turn,
    the copcar passed me.

    How many violations of the TN. vehicle code did the cop-cruiser commit,
    I wonder?

    Facts: I was in my lane, signalling a left turn;
    there is no turn lane;
    the painted divider stripe is double-yellow;
    the cop passed me in the intersection;
    he passed me closer than three feet;
    he did not indicate, with his directionals, his intention to pass and
    he did not indicate his presence with a honk of his horn.
    :mad9:

    Fact:
    he did not respond to my shouted verbal assessment of his
    genetic inheritance.

    ---

    Beautiful day, otherwise.
    It was great to be outside, using my lungs to breathe Fall air
    and my legs to power the bike on real streets for a change!

    Only rode 17.9 miles for an average of 16.9mph today...
    and saw one other bicyclist (a regular) going the other way;
    I also saw a civilian bicyclist on a dirt bike, going the other way.
    He was the type of biker I associate with drunks who have had
    their license to drive pulled....

    I hope it is as pretty tomorrow as it was today!

    Steve, do you recall any part of the cruiser's tag or the local vehicle number? Or have Dispatch check the log of which car was there at that time. These guys are public servants and paid by you. His superiors need to know that their boss and benefactor is not pleased. As to his genetic heritage, may wanna let that remain a family secret.

    Buddy, I really have'nt been riding the Corsa a lot lately. I recently aquired a Tour Easy and have been enjoying it. With the colder weather, the fairing sure helps. I can see this as being my main bike for the winter.
    It certainly isn't as fast as the Corsa, but man it is a comfortable ride.

    ED, now you're singing my song. I Put a few thousand miles on a Tour
    Easy and now keep a Goldrush. I've been told by one Corsa enthusiast
    that a TE or GRR when run with a body sock, will do as well as a Corsa.
    Don't know about that, but I'll give up some speed for a winter socked
    smooth ride. So, in the morning, I'm winterizing the Goldrush with a
    full patriotic body sock. I've always used a fairing on these bikes, but
    never a body sock. If it works for me, I'll tell the world, with pictures too.

    Um, no. The cruiser was too close and other traffic
    was competing for my attention, plus I was too interested in staying alive.

    I will have nothing to do with any cop about anything,
    unless I have a video recording on hand.
    Since I have no video of this encounter....
    ----
    Here's the sort of 'brain'-power that our local fuzz have to work with for example:
    last Summer, a local woman was (attempting) to drive by our house.
    The SUN was setting and she was driving too fast for conditions, with the
    Sun in her eyes.
    Her car rear-ended a parked two-ton truck (the owner, a contractor, was working next door).
    The truck, propelled by the impetus of the impact with the woman's car,
    rolled through both our mailbox and our newspaper boxes, destroying both,
    before coming to rest on a guy-wire connected to a power pole.

    -The contractor drove his truck away with a new dimple in his rear bumper;

    -The woman had her car winched onto a flatbed wrecker, the front end of her Town Car destroyed;

    -The Woman was driven home by her husband, who seemed to be quite annoyed;

    -The owners of the Town Car had their car repaired... their insurance company bought us a new mailbox, which I installed (our old one is now a planter and is growing Thai basil).

    -The deputy who took our statement -I was watching the Sunset from
    our front porch and witnessed the accident- did not just misspell my
    sweeties' name, he invented a whole different surname for her, despite our efforts to set him straight.

    So, you see, I think that they can understand pictures.
    I'm pretty sure that they can even make sense of moving pictures: video.
    But I know that they have problems with words....

    Nice(er) Day!

    75 degrees F., and virtually no wind.
    Clear, blue skies and very little traffic.

    Two people, one on a bike I passed going uphill,
    asked me about my bike.
    That's twice as many people who've asked me about
    recumbents... all year!

    Oh, that DF guy: I caught up to him the first time at
    a stop sign, where I stopped and he didn't.
    I took my time overtaking him the second time
    and passed him as we were going uphill, where he asked me about my bike.
    I had to slow down to answer his question... then
    ramped up my speed back to normal.
    He flat disappeared, rapidly disappeared in my rearview mirror.

    I stopped where I usually stop, to take off my helmet,
    wipe off sweat, sit a spell and sip water; I did that.
    Two minutes later, the DF rider pedalled by.....
    :jiggy9:
    ....While I was chatting with a curious pedestrian about
    my recumbent bike.

    A nice wabbit story, a 'buck' wabbit (maximum points, right?) eh?!
    ( 20 hilly miles for an avg. speed of 16.6mph.)

    Out on the Venom this morning for my first cold weather ride 46 degrees when we started. Rode hard on Thursday so we didnt push hard 29.3 miles with a average of 13.6. Lots of climbing almost 2000 feet. Passed one recumbent rider, a friend of mine on his GRR as we were finishing up.
