    Velos... Pretty! I Wuv Wabbits!

So, I was hammering home on the last straight stretch of road.
The one that trends downhill slightly and is mostly free of traffic...
whipping around a bend at speed (breaking the marked speed limit)
I had to slow waaay down, to allow a car to back into it's driveway,
as it was blocking the road.
    Don't worry.
    This road is safe at speed, as all of the corners have open sight lines;
    no blind corners!

(Ahem) -so, I was snicking up through the gears, hammering home
on what remained of the last straight stretch of road, and reached a respectable top speed of 26mph.
A little shy of what I wanted, but my excuse was excellent.

After I'd cleared the last steep little hill on my home street, I spotted
a DF rider ahead of me.
    What a shock.
I must have been flying... and... that bicyclist must be positively slow!
    Ooozing uphill!

Naturally, without thought, I ramped up my speed.
    Considerably.

Where I normally slow down, getting my breathing back to normal
before I turn onto my driveway, I was getting back up to speed... and more.

    Aha!
    Caught her.
    Right at my driveway.
    Catch-and-release.
I recognised her, too: she's outside a lot, riding her distinctive
    robin's egg blue DF.

    It was a satisfying end to a very pretty Fall ride;
I have a new personal best speed on the last uphill section of my ride!

    I wuv wabbits....

Sounds like a great ride however, if it female it is a "bunny". You'll get more "points" if it is a buck.(yes "buck" is a male rabbit) my neighbors growing up raised rabbits for eating.:yuck: and used to give more information than I ever wanted about the critters.

Went for a ride today. It was cold. When I got off the plane last night at 1 am it was 31 F. Brrr. Was about 48 F when I left Stockholm so quite a change.

It was only 38 F when I went for my ride and very, very windy. At least it was blue skies and sunshine. The first SUN I've been OUT in. There was a bit of sun as I was taxing down the runway out of Stockholm. Then a few glimpses as I was leaving Falmouth.

Loke's foot infection is back, we found it last night. Jens told me Loke had been licking his foot furiously on the way to the airport to get me. *sigh*

Anyway, Jens was buried under work so asked me to take fuzzy one for a rolling walk. Loke was having none of it. The infection isn't bad yet and treatment has begun so I decided him scrabbling his paws on the pavement was worse than letting him run how he liked.

I seriously need to find my shoe covers. We did 5.05 miles. It would have been more except my toes started aching from the cold though the rest of me was fine. Cold or not, it was a gorgeous day to be out! :yes9:

Oh, detailed post about two of the days in Falmouth on my blog. Not many photos. The weather just left everything in a murk that hid the scenery. :rolleyes9:

    BuckyWabbits?

Wabbits an.' bucks are rare nowadays, hereabouts.
I trolled the local bicycle clubs' website and
discovered that they've changed the routes that
    they ride.
They no longer use my neighbourhood for their rides!
    Dang!

26.1 miles at an average speed of 17.6mph.

Nice day for a ride -80 degrees F. with
a week of cold and rain in thee forecast.
I'll be reading and pedaling on the trainer next week!

"Sandy" is preventing me from riding right now. :sad9: Weather is cold (43 degrees) cloudy and 100% chance of rain. They closed 441 through the Smokies due to snow.

Did the treadmill last night. Looks like I will be doing it again tonight. Sigh..... At least I don't have to take up kayaking like they will on the East coast!

Saturday and Sunday were gorgeous. Cold, but still gorgeous out and I was sick as a dog with migraine and nausea for both of them. :rolleyes9: Yesterday I felt better but still needed time to recover from the weekend.

This morning, I had Jens carry the trike out before work, determined that if I wasn't suffering from another round of migraines, I'd go out to break that 700 mile threshold. :yes9: My knees and ankles were uncomfortable due to all the walking I did before and during my trip to England, but I figured if I took it slow and easy I could get that 5 miles I needed.

It's been gray and raining all day, but around 1 pm it stopped drizzling so I bolted out the door. Loke's foot infection hasn't slowed him down any since I caught it before it got too serious so he was eager to run even if it meant dragging me.

41 F, lead gray sky and no wind so it wasn't too bad. I expected the rain to pick up again once we were out, but it held off. The only wet we had was what was thrown up from the road by wheels and paws. Adding various extensions to the River Loop, we arrived back home with 7.2 miles on the Garmin. It's official! I have 703-ish miles for the year. The most I've covered since 2009 which was 691 miles! :jiggy9:

Can I break 800?? I can hope! I doubt I can beat my best ever year total of 1290+ miles before December 31st. Maybe next year. :tongue9:

Another 4.93 miles this morning. Frosty and mostly cloudy so I dressed in a few layers and made sure I had my goretex mittens and neoprene shoe covers. The main reason I went out was to get Loke to the vet for his 11 am appointment. My knees and ankles are unhappy with all the walking I've done the past 2 weeks so it seemed best to use the trike.

I think Fate is telling me to go for the Sprint NOW. My chain tube slipped loose and got caught in the rear derailleur. Then for some reason the chain jumped off the middle chainring and wedged between the pedal boom and the small ring. :mad9: I had to remove the entire right side crank to reseat it. Fortunately, I keep all those tools with me. All this with the 11 am deadline ticking at me.

I didn't go straight to the vet, doing the basic river loop with the small extension that takes me past the animal clinic, other wise, it would be barely more than 1.1 mile round trip to and from the clinic. Loke was happy to run and the frost on the grass was pretty.

Unfortunately, an emergency came up at the vet just before I arrived. A smallish dog had been mauled by a larger one so Niclas asked if I minded coming back around 3:30. :eek9:

So, Loke gets two runs today, though the 2nd one will be a direct there and back from the clinic since I have laundry to worry about now.

    Terii,

You should be proud of yourself. It looks like you are the only one riding these days!!! And breaking 800 700 miles is GREAT!!! (I am watching your progress on Bike Journal. I see your miles continue to go up!!)

Sandy will leave Tennessee today and we are supposed to have SUN this afternoon. I am planning a late afternoon ride. I am getting cabin fever being inside for almost a WEEK now!!! :yikes:

Thanks Jon! Though it's just over 700 miles right now. I'm hoping to break 800 before New Year! :yes9:

Fingers crossed you get some sun. It's setting here now as I get ready to head out for the 2nd ride to the animal clinic.

2nd ride of the day was just around 1 mile. With my new little lights against the deepening dark, I toyed with the idea of cycling further to spare my hubby the need to take Loke for a long evening walk. The Trice had other ideas. The chain started slipping, giving very little power to the wheel. A couple times on the 0.45 mile return home I thought I was going to have to walk the trike home. Naturally, any thought of a longer ride went right out the window as I prayed it would hold out for just a few hundred yards more. :eek9:

Rode for the first time yesterday a really long 13.3 mile ride. (Not really.) Ran out of time and the wind was horrific. Very appropriate for Halloween!!!

Planning on a 20 mile ride late this afternoon. Temp is only 45 degrees right now. Brrr.

Got 20 miles in yesterday. Sunny. Extremely clear and no humidity. Started out at 50 degrees. Warmed up to 54 by end of ride. But it was very windy making it feel colder.

I was the only person riding a bike today. DF Weenies!!!! :nana:

Plan to ride today also. Should be another GORGEOUS day.
