    Got out for a ride today! For the first time ever, I drove the car somewhere to do a loop over new ground! 16+ miles with 2 castles and 3 churches. Started cloudy, but went gloriously clear with temps around 68 F. Awesome day!

    Will post to the blog in the next day or two with the photos.

    No wabbits to chase.
    I did not even see another bike on the road today.

    I bought a new handlebar at the LBS while I was
    shopping for new rim tape, this week.
    I said it was new... well, it is new to me.
    It's used and I got it for only five dollars.
    Cool!
    I've been looking for something like this for a while.
    For years, really!

    I love it.
    The new handlebar opens up my cockpit, allows me to sit up easily
    and reduces aerodynamic drag: my arms are no longer bent.
    And they're comfortable.
    Win!

    I'm convinced that I'm climbing hills easier, as well as going
    faster on the flat.

    Today, with my new handlebar and on my old seat, I went
    20 miles at an average speed of 16.3mph.
    I was not as tired as usual either!

    The rim tape was installed just in time.
    The original plastic tape had three holes worn into it by
    spoke nipples... disaster-waiting-to-happen.

    Anyway, here's a picture of my new seat, the new handlebar
    and my other customised stuff (taken today! Yay!):

    a little cool this morning as we pulled out with the fog sitting low over the field. The picture doesn't do it justice.

    I rode a hard 47 miles with Liner. We kept the motor running pretty high. A young guy on an Orbea slowly caught up to us so we ran with him for about three miles at about 22 mph. I couldn't hold the pace with the 48 lbs Venom when we started climbing. The good news...when we got to the end of the road five miles later, there he was resting. Didn't get that far ahead.

    Didn't really have anyone else to chase. As we retuned coming back onto the Riverwalk we met my wife coming out on her Eliptigo.
    [IMG]

    I rode with her as she made her 16 mile trip out and back on the Trail. I did make a sligh detour, a nice shady area that goes down to a pond. I never see anyone there.
    [IMG]

    Anyway, a nice 60 mile ride in about 4 1/2 hours

    I went for a ride yesterday! 26+ miles. The longest run Loke's had all year. Was a good ride though it had a couple of bumpy moments.

    Post with photos already on my blog!

    Friday Ride

    Windy day;
    perfect temperature, 78F.

    Testy, selfish drivers... as usual, on a Friday afternoon.
    Got buzzed many times, razzed a few times.
    Drivers cutting blind corners.
    A school-bus driver endangered my life... probably drunk.
    A beer-delivery truck (Fat Tire Ale) tailgated me and then he leaned on his horn....

    Anyway, the weather was perfect!

    I scarcely noticed the headwinds:
    the 18-degree seat is very nice, especially
    since I installed the seat pads.

    20 miles, at an average speed of 17.2 miles per hour.

    Wabbits!
    W'ere they at?!!!

    This is killing me. I am on a ten day business trip so I won't be riding. Couldn't ride the first part of this week because if weather and work. Been a long time since I had a two week no ride break! I don't like it either.

    Sat morn. Clear as a bell, 68 deg. Can see Smokys from here 50 miles away. Gonna pedal over to the airport's fly-in/cruise-in. See if i can swap a "weird bike" ride for a plane ride. Just no good reason to leave east TN. Unless your a Vol fan (sorry, that's just frustration talkin).

    let 'em go...ride your ride

    Some of us don't try to keep up....we just "ride our ride and let 'em go".
    17.2 is outstanding. Mine is 9.

    School buses! Those crazy bewitches. One rolled a bus with near 70 kds...
    sent over 20 to three hospitals. Yep, she rolled the dammnn thing three times.
    They don't even know what three feet is. I don't ride when school buses are
    rolling. In the news in Washington County TN.

    Sorry to hear that, Jon. Hope you get a break in weather and time soon!

    Thankfully the weather has been down right lousy this weekend otherwise, I'd be climbing the walls with my trike at the shop in Stockholm for repairs. This is the first time they've kept it for longer than over night. :hissyfit9:

    Loke started letting me know this morning that we should ride. Bullying furball. :tongue9:

    Dog Day

    I had a late start.
    Couldn't go play in the street until late in the afternoon;
    that's procrastination in action.

    Because I missed the quiet period, the time when
    the churches are full, I went sprinting on the frontage road.
    Back and forth, as fast as I felt comfortable going.

    The wind was gusty and variable... I really could not feel it.
    But my fellow bicyclists could.
    I passed the same guy, doing what I was doing, three times.
    We were both going the same way, but he was saddled with a D.F.
    and I stopped after each run, practicing my shifting.

    On the way home, a new pack of dogs came at me.
    They came from the yard of the local cop and one of the animals belonged
    to the cop that lives across the valley.
    I had to pepper-spray the Lab. and the cops stood on the stoop to watch.

    Beautiful weather;
    got to lap a wabbit;
    got to train some dogs
    and averaged 17.4 miles per hour for 20 miles.

    Earlier this week, Doc and I drove over to rhe Buffalo River area of Western Arkansas. We took our bikes and tents, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Our intentions were to ride Push mountain road (supposedly the toughest ride in the Arkansas Ozarks). We first drove it in the truck, and I hate to admit it but I wimped out!:no9: We did ride some other roads in the area that turned out to be the steepest climbs I've ever done.
    If I can build enough courage, we will go back in a week or two and at least give it a shot. The problem is that unless we take two vehicles, it will be an out and back and one way is as bad as the other ha!:hissyfit9:
