I rode yesterday though it was only the River Loop and without the extension. Though the weather was threatening with rain, I went any way since Jens had been too stressed for time to walk Loke and I needed to swing by the vet clinic. I figured for once I'd use my trike as transportation.

The vet was closed so I pulled out my cell phone and called to make an appointment (as suggested on a sign posted next to the Closed sign). Sounded like I woke Niclas (my vet) up. :o_O9:

Other than that, it was cold enough I wore an extra layer, low 40's, windy with a few spits of rain. 10 min after we got home with about 4.5 miles covered, the real rain swept in.

Caught the infection early enough there's no real damage to Loke's feet so no disruption to our rides. If it stops raining for more than 20 minutes at a time, I'll try to plan a longer outing!

I had not ridden for 3 days. :( Though the weather was beautiful, I had my desk stacked to the ceiling with work because I was gone the previous week on vacation.

Took out the Bachetta and drove down to Coulter Bridge. Rode to U-Man in Townsend and talked to Jaquilla for a while. Downed a Power Aid, bought two steel tire levers and a new patch kit (because of all the flats I have been having lately) then pedaled back.

    Sunny, 68 degrees
    21.86 miles
    1 hour 16 minutes
    17.2 MPH average
    2016 calories burned (I wish!)

The Bacchetta flies compared to my V Rex!!!

One thing I notice is I get leg cramps from being able to pedal harder on the Bacchetta. Does anyone have any solutions for that?

Don't pedal harder. You'll blow out yer knees. Shift down & spin more. And drink and drink and drink. A couple of bananas wouldn't hurt.

I used to have cramping problems until I studied it and found out that the muscles take their orders from the brain through electricity. Electrolytes carry the orders back and forth, if you sweat too many of your bodys electrolytes out without replacing them, your muscles will cramp up. A common mineral capable of conducting electricity is salt. I have been making my own bikers drink for years and it now includes a 1/2 table spoon of salt per half gallon, no more cramps. I also carry some Tums for emergencies and may eat a few before a long hot ride. If you have dried salty sweat on your face and clothe, you need to eat more salt.

Good luck, it worked for me.

Thanks! I've read elsewhere about Tums. I will try both and see how it works.

When I ride a lot I get a lot of white salt residue on my sweatband and helmet, which means my clothes also probably have it but I don't see it as easy.

I do know I sweat very easily!

First long(ish) ride on new ICE sprint

Today I got out for my first real ride on the new Sprint, went out with my friend Graham who has the identical model. After a few tweaks here and there we cycled around West London. Not too energetic a day, but 32 miles on the clock by the end. A link to a few pictures of the bikes below.

    Great PICS!!!

Well I did my 3rd 200k of the year, This one started at Urban MD, and wound around to PA and back to Urbana, Last year i did this ride in 12 hours 30 minutes on the V-Rex, THis year I finished in 10 hours 30 mines, with 9 hours 42 minutes of ride time. The Corsa is definalty faster buy far. I road with the main group of about 7 riders for the first 40 miles until i hit the Catoctin Mounain and that was all she wrote. I eventually caught up to them and finished pretty well. After the ride i forgot to turn my GPS off while muncing some food so I have a little extra time.

The weather was crazy, It started off at 40 degs, warmed a tad and when we hit PA i thhough I had frost on my nose it was so cold, then 10 miles later it warmed up 20 degs. We then shed some clothes and it got cold again. At least it did not rain. It never did get to the forcasted 65 degs.

I just went over 1000 miles for the year not bad to start, lol

    128 Miles

Adrian, very good pictures, I like the different locations you picked for taking the shots. My favorite was the one on the grass/path. That looked quite nice.

On another note, Willie G and I thought about biking yesterday then changed our mind and thought about going for a walk, but then is just came a down pour so we just stayed home.

Well I got another 53 miles in today, which is my longest recumbent ride this year. I'll have to build up the legs and stamina if I'm to get to a 200K though !
