Great day for you indeed!:spin: and thumbs up for Loke!

Granted I haven't ridden much, I have had some really good days at the bike shop. With the weather being so nice... I Sold a Rover and 2 ramblers in one day. Rentals are starting to pick up and folks are buying accessories like mad. I can only hope that today will be as good as the last few.

    Joy oh joy!!!!

Rode 28 miles today NO FLATS!!!! There had to be something in the old tire I couldn't find causing the flats. Well that tire is thrashed and my new Kendra tire is doing great!

Lesson learned. Next time I get more than 3 flats in a week get a new tire!!!! I went through 1 entire patch kit (I used up all the patches) before I figured this out. I am a slow learner!!!

PS. Florida weather is perfect this year. Very sunny and warm and windy!!

Got another ride in today. It's as pretty and warm as yesterday though a bit more wind. Only took a short ride to spare Loke's paws, but even the 5 miles I planned to do was cut short when Loke limped. :eek9:

I'm not worried about this limp so much though since it was because of a cut rather than something infection related. Still wanted to get right home and clean it.

My timing couldn't have been better. As I was bringing the trike in a mail delivery truck arrived. The door bell ran just as I struggled to put the trike away in the trike garage (aka, under the kitchen table). The medihoney barrier cream arrived! Now I get to torture Loke by trimming the fur between his toes and rubbing his feet down with the new ointment. Hopefully it will keep his infection at bay long enough that if it comes back the vet can get a good sample to find out exactly what's eating his skin.

Oh! And this ride makes it offical! According to the Bike Journal web site, I will have broken 100 miles for the year! :jiggy9: Granted it would be over 200 if not for Loke's feet, but ah well.

Well I did doughnuts and figure eights in my parking lot this morning. I wasn't wearing my brace so my ankle flexed more normal and it felt really good to be biking.:yes9:

Let me 'splain this some more. Paul and Gene drive over 40 miles to ride
18 miles with me. They are great! Paul rides a Catrike with a 700 wheel
on the back and he has gotten very good at it. When he decides to move
out, there is no catching him. Gene rides an ICE. It has 20's all around.
It is a beauty also and very fast. He and Paul ride 'em side-beside. It
is a real pleasure riding with them. They make good pizza and sandwiches
at the country store. Gene and I ordered up a vege samich on brown
bread and Paul sometimes gets a burger. He had a Twinkie on this trip.
Anyway, we had fun. I hope they come back often, and bring friends.

Well, made it back from Florida and I didn't take any pictures or video of my rides. Sorry!

I had quite a time with rear flats (now solved with a new rear tire) and unbelievable wind. (Took 1 hour 45 minutes out and 45 minutes back!!!)

    Trip photos

Jon, I can't believe you didn't take photos!:eek9: That is like the ultimate crime on this forum...to ride/tour in a beautiful place and not take photos... You of all people should know better. Tsk Tsk haha... So you are going to make up for it right? You're going to go on another vacation in some other beautiful place with scenic routes and take extra photos for the folks here to see right? I mean, without photos how are we to know that you were really there:wink9: for all we know you could have stayed at home hiding out in your back yard by the pool.:jiggy9:

Seriously though, glad that you are back all safe and sound. I hope your vacation was a good one.

OK, I didn't take any pictures while riding because I was too busy and frustrated with 4 flats in 2 days.

But here is a picture of my bent looking at the beach from our condo balcony. Breath taking view. Denise and I were on the porch every day for hours enjoying the view.

If you look to the right of my seat below the road and look at the group of palm trees, you will see a paved trail. That is part of the trail I ride down there. The separate trail ends in about 3 miles, but they have bike lanes on both sides of the road through Gulf Shores Park.

And this is the night view of our condo complex. The Gulf is on the left side and the Sound is on the right side. We are on a island in between connected by bridges to mainland Florida on both ends.

The complex is called Portofino Island Resort. If interested click here for more information.

(Dave this paragraph is for you.) Took these pictures with a new camera I bought for when I go on a river cruise down the Danube and Rhine rivers next year. It is an Olympus SP-800UZ. It is much bigger than my "pocket" Panasonic digital camera I normally take. I bought this because it has a 14 meg picture and a telephoto lens that is OUTSTANDING with image stabilization. So I was trying it out this vacation.

Don't know much about the Olympus cameras now but their film cameras were excellent; would expect digital to be no less. Good that you are using it and getting to know it well before your trip. Image stabilization is the best thing to come along in photography since the invention of film; just remember to turn it off temporarily when doing non-handheld shots. 14MB is great but creates large files that eat memory quickly. I've learned to take along twice as many memory cards as expected to use. And never let them out of your sight, even at airport security. Next trip I'll use an internet service to upload pics during the trip.

What power receptacles configuration will be over there? A friend visited several countries and got into hassles because he was not prepared for all the various plug requirements. Recharging batteries was a pain.

Well here is a nice thing about our river boat. Though we travel through many countries, our room always stays with us so no packing and unpacking all the time. In addition, all the suites have standard 110V outlets so no problems. Plus we get free WiFi!!! So I don't see that as a problem though I do have electrical adapters if needed.

Sounds like you've got an incredible year of travel coming up, Jon! :yes9:

Loke and I went out for a ride this morning. Jens is in the southern part of Sweden on business and it's just easier to make sure Loke gets all his business done via trike than on foot given my walking limitations.

It seemed fairly warm and moderately calm, but the calm was just an illusion and the wind was a rather chilly northerner. Loke had a lot of his old fire back which I was very glad to see. Don't get me wrong. He's had energy and his speed has been decent given that I've been trying to keep him a bit slower until I'm sure of his feet again, but he was lacking that verve! He wanted to fly at supersonic speed for the first mile and streak down the hills.:jiggy9:

I added the river extension today which brought me to a rather unusual incident. Toward the end of the path along the river, I spotted a white car parked on the side of the path which was very surprising. At first, I was irritated until I saw it was a police car. As I closed the distance to it, the officer came running across the field opposite and waved a hand for my attention. He wanted to warn me his K9 was in the car so it didn't startle me when it reacted to my passing.

I thanked him as he walked back out into the field. The dog STILL made me jump and squeak as I passed. :eek9: That level of growling/snarl just flips the 'offensive defensiveness' switch in me which always comes like a shock.

We made it to the end of the path and turned back as another K9 unit arrived from the other direction. Something was definitely going on in that field.

It felt good to have the wind at my back for the return. It looked like it was bringing rain as this dark gray wash of clouds seemed to be pouring toward us as we finished the last quarter mile.

It felt good to get back in. 6.5-ish miles under the wheels/paws. Loke's content and not a single sign of limping which is a good change!
