Going for a ride just past noon is no big deal. Oh, wait... I'll bet you meant 0001, just past midnight.

Hmmm, what's more crazy: cooped up in a room with a bunch of drunks watching Dick Clark on TV, or out on the open road in the middle of the night? Well, the night road may be more crazy, but I'd be with you if I could. Be safe whatever you do.

I'd say that despite it being crazy, it is probably safer being cooped up with the drunks. The worst thing a room full of drunks could do to you is puke on your shoes or in your lap. It is better than getting run down on the open road by a drunk trying to get home.

Well, hopefully I will be home where it is the safest. Watching a good movie, eating popcorn, sipping on some cider while sitting on my most comfy sofa while my wood stove fire keeps me nice and toasty.:D

My club often does a midnight ride; and when they do, I'm there! Over the years, I've done them in warm 40F,) cold (zero F,) rain, and 6 up to inches of snow. The roads are usually empty because everyone is either at parties or sleeping.

If your reading this, i survived my "out with the old; in with a new beginning ride."
Rode over to Morristown about 10pm. But since my cheap chinese crap of a sigma odometer decided to blow up on me i cannot tell you the exact milage. According to Map My Ride it was just under 25 miles.
First ride of 2012 was just over 30 miles.
Total was (according to MMR) 58.69 miles. I do know the pedal time,4hrs 49 minutes.
Average speed (according to MMR),12.2mph..Piece of #$%* Fisher Price tiny tots bicycle $#*%.
2,096 feet elevation gain. And i supposedly burned 2,750 calories. Is that possible? Or is that an hourly average?
Wow! Map My Ride gives a lot of trivia.....
Guess that could all be useful for somebody.
Just wish someone would engineer and build (any kind ) of bicycle accessory that was worth the cracker jack box it came in.. :mad9:
Hopefully this ride will help usher me back into the habit of riding some every day.
Saw several time/temp signs along the way. Seems it was 43 degrees when i left and lowest was on return near 2:30 am and showed 33.
Did not seem remotely close to being that cold. Guess i layered up pretty well. Do need to get a face shield like Buddies though. Or a fairing.
Need to get cleats for my shoes to match my pedals; two pairs of socks and sandals was just barely doable. Ended up putting on my neoprene shoe cover for last 3 or 4 miles.
Had a great time all and all. :jiggy9::jiggy9::jiggy9::jiggy9::jiggy9::jiggy9:

My first ride of the year I rode with the Wheelmen in the Annual Snow Ball express. About 30 people showed up and all had a blast. I got to chase a few people here and there. Overall a nice day!
