2012 SMOKY MTN. RECUMBENT RALLY (SMRR)

This is awesome!

Hey everybody, this is a great opportunity to ride in one of the most beautiful places on earth! Thanks for putting it together. I plan to attend if possible and hopefully can sweet talk sweetie into tagging along. Once I know for sure I'll volunteer for any duties I may qualify for. I'm a purdy good food tester!!!

A person can still register "late" if they show up on Thursday, during the "goodie-bag pick up time, however, they won't receive a "goodie-bag".

 

It sounds like the weekend is really an Edge Recumbents Open House and Bike Rally weekend.

 

Sort of. I think it started out as just a rally at the behest of other people so Keila just ran with it. Even though I am a shameless self promoter, I think we just added in the new product introduction bit as an afterthought.

 

Yeah!:yay:It has begun, I got an email confirmation from the first Recumbent Rally registrant today. She is coming all the way from Maryland...and possibly bringing a friend. I am officially excited about the rally now!

If you want to see the Saturday morning Featured ride at Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, check out this video by Ed (Tadpole) who is one of our Recumbent Riders International (RRI) members. This and most of our rides will have rolling hills but no steep climbing. Remember, you are coming to the mountains!! The first picture is of the Smokies!!!!

 

Since my wife and I are going to be in the area that week, we'll be attending. I must say that the registration form is very confusing concerning t-shirts. It won't let you register unless you pay $15 for a t-shirt. Now, I'm worried that I may get two per registration. Regardless, I don't like being strong-armed in to buying a t-shirt.

Everyone automatically gets a T-shirt in their goodie bag when they register. The question asks your shirt size for the first and then the second question is whether or not you want to buy an additional (extra) t-shirt. I will go and check the format and make sure that no one is "forced" to buy any thing they don't want. Thanks for your comment.

 

Ok, I checked the registration format and made a couple of changes. Everything should be fine now.

Everyone is responsible for their own meal cost during the group dinner Friday night, for those who want to come. The dinner location Saturday night has not been finalized. Since I was unable to reserve the placed I originally wanted, I have to have a final headcount by the end of registration before the location is finalized. It will be in Townsend though. The two locations I have spoken to already have no problem with a variety of meat and vegetarian food fare and the dinner is sponsored by Edge Engineering. When I have all the final details I will post them here on the site.

 

We aren't going to be able to make it. Laurie was given a 60 day notice on Jan 20. She has found another job and will be starting it the end of March. Unfortunately she won't have built up any vacation time in time for the rally. Hope you all have a blast.
