My :2cents: will go to the HITCH RIDER. It's built like a tank and is capable of carrying two trikes if/when the need should ever arise for such.(i.e. CaTrikeGirl has had a trike for years, but now I have one as well too!)

Also take a look at these threads for a few more ideas on how folks haul recumbents…

How to Carry a Trike on a Car

    Recumbent Hitch Racks

    Yakima Bike Rack

    Transporting a TadpoleTrike How?

Those are just some of the threads 'I' have posted in, so there may be others you'll turn up using the search feature of the board. :wink9:

I went "hillbilly" on my trike rack. I got my old Thule rack and took it to a welder who added 12 inches to the height of the vertical boom. I took off all but one set of the rubber frame holders. Then my trike would stand up with the front struts over the support beams of the rack. I would take the rubber frame holders and secure each leg strut. Then I took a bungie cord to secure the bottom wheel right next to the rack. Very easy on and off and it didn't move a centimeter while driving. Cost was a can of black paint and $40 (after buying the Thule rack but I had that from my former DF days).

Used an XSport rack for two wheelers for years. Came with four loops to carry two bikes. When bought Catrike 700, LBS provided me with an adapter to space trikes two front wheels. Now I keep the four loops on the rack all the time. Looks odd until one realizes I only need to move one loop to switch between 2 and 3 wheels. Simple, easy. Original rack around $150. Adapter about $50.

:cool9: If you have a chance sometime, I'd like to see a picture of your arrangement as I can't visualize it in my head. Or perhaps a link to where I could read/see more about it.

Well, I've been calling and talking to different vendors with the racks for my trikes and I'm getting from $750-$1000 for their setup, wow!! I can build a very nice looking and functional carrier for way less....I have some ideas from websites and blogs that I have visited! Thanks for all the input it has help spark my engineering side to build my own!!! I'll do some pics as I go along.....THANKS AGAIN!!!

The image with the hooked post horizontal is the setup for a Catrike 700. The two right side loops are for the front wheels; the furthest out on the left is for the rear wheel.

The image with hooked post vertical is the setup for my Corsa. The loop in line with the post directly to the left and right are for the Corsa 650's wheels.
