I can't help but ask (somebody will anyway): Why would someone sell a current-year +$6,000 bicycle with less than 200 miles on it?

I have a physical condition that required I give up upright cycling. I purchased this bike as an alternative, but unfortunately it will not work for me either. It was a gamble and I did not win...Too much pain in upright or recumbent position. I am pretty bummed...I might try a less reclined style-smaller front wheel type etc.

I wanted to also express that I am willing to sell the bike without the rims if interested. That would subtract $1000 from the price of $5000.

As mentioned, the frame cost $3500, so that means you get an excellent component set for $500. The orig cost of the components was $1800! The total new cost was $6300+

    Thanks for looking!!!

Asking for opinion here. No real bites on this bike and trying to figure out if I should strip it and sell frame alone and let hubby use the components and rims on a bike he really does not need, or keep here as is. The details are obviously listed above. Is the price wrong? New bike, full warranty, $1300 off retail, etc etc etc. Is anyone considering this/interested? Insight would be helpful and I appreciate it very much Thanks!

    Hey Karen,
I can understand your frustration, but with a bike of that price you have a small audience to sell to. MetaBikes are nice, but I've never seen one in person so I'll assume they are fairly rare on the street. That said, their rareness is what makes them more valuable. If you choose to part it out, then your audience of available buyers will be even smaller in my opinion. By that I mean, you'll pretty much be looking for someone who's ridden, likes, wants one and is willing to assemble one. Whereas at least when it's a whole bike, someone could try it out to see if they like it. Again, just my :2cents:

I think the secret to selling it will be exposure. The more people that see it and/or read about it, the better the odds you'll find your buyer. However, time will most probably be the greatest variable involved, unless you keep dropping the price to speed up the process.(i.e. bargains tend to motivate fence-sitting buyers)

I agree with AD. The whole recumbent industry is small. Then take a very high end carbon bent and the folks who want to spend that much money on a bent gets even smaller.

I would NOT just sell the frame. I don't think you will ever sell it because if I spent that much money, I would want it 100% rideable when I got it. Or when I tested it out before buying it. I think you just have to be patient. And if you haven't already, make sure you post it on Bent Rider Online. They have a bigger audience than us.

Price reduced to $4500 FIRM. That's $1800 off retail on this brand new bike, right at 30% off! That is basically the cost of the rims and frame kit. Folks, this is an absolute steal on this high quality carbon bike. New was $6300 ++. WARRANTY is GUARANTEED. NO RISK.

Willing to drive 2 hrs/125 miles from my house north of Rome, GA. Buyer pays all shipping fees.

I realized that I neglected to say in orig post that there is a small scratch where the edge of carbon seat contacted the frame when I sat on seat. It is in the clear coat. I placed a thin rubber washer over it to protect it. I also placed rubber washer where carbon seat bolts on frame to lift it VERY SLIGHTLY which solved the issue of contact. You can't see when Ventisit pad is on bike unless you bend over and try to see it.

Will part out as frame set, frame set +/-components, +/- carbon seat. PM if interested. Extras included-lg seat bag, double water bottle holder and never used adjustable Ice headrest
