Glad you got out, Jon! I'd planned to ride again already.

But parking lot blocked by road work and forgetting Loke's harness nixed that. Ah well...:rolleyes9:

Thanks guys. Funny after nearly 5-6 year after my last treatment my ms decided to show up on my mri. Dr. said it is a small spot, and he wants to "nip it in the bud" etc. This is never a really good treatment. They have to knock me out during the whole thing. After it is all done, i am house confined for at least one week, but have to wear a mask for 2-3 weeks after if i am around other people. Weak as a baby...going to be difficult running the bike shop, but the SMRR is still ON!!! Anyway thanks for the prayers.

Is this Cytoxan therapy? I wasn't aware they administered treatment under full anesthesia. But many advancements in past few years for MS.

Imagine: sweat running off you like you've done a race in 100° temps...only it its a COLD sweat. Your hair, your fingernails, your skin, your gums, your eyes... every inch of you in excruciating neurological pain..feeling like your bones are being ground a part from the inside out...heart racing so hard you can't hear anything except the pounding of your own heart beat and the "swooshing" sound of blood in your ears...along with puking your guts out till you have dry heaves and your stomach cramps from the pain.

For 4 hours straight...3 days in a row.

That is why they knock me out. Not anesthesia...HEAVY doses of Benedryl.

Jon, glad you are out riding. The weather is definitely good for it. I will ride again...one of these days.:)

Got out for a ride today. Felt surprisingly good which I didn't expect.

Since I didn't expect to feel so strong, I thought I'd only ride about 4.4 miles which is the normal River Loop.

Instead, I kept going, heading to downtown Uppsala and stopping at the American food shop. Rolled to a stop right at 9 miles on the nose.

Jens will spend the weekend bullying me to ride lots, even has offered to drive me significant distances for new, or at least rarely ridden ground. Not sure why he's so determined, but it's kinda sweet unless he makes me feel like throwing things at him. :tongue9:

Managed 120 miles over the last three days as it's a holiday weekend. Decided it was time to try a new bike. A friend of mine had taken a nearly new Bachetta Giro 20 ATT in exchange for another recumbent and he wanted to sell it, he's already got loads of recumbents ! Did a short flat ride in the countryside on Friday which went well and then 45 miles up through central London on Saturday, good to see how well it mixed it with Traffic etc. I was convinced enough by that to buy it, so took it out today for another 45 miler in the country as my first ride as my bike. Ultimately I was attracted to it as you can buy a mid rack on and carry 4 panniers for loaded touring. Seems it's a very popular bike in the States for that, so I'm sure some of you will have used one.

It's a pretty standard Giro, but with Euromesh seat, which I find really comfortable and with one modification, I asked my friend to put tiler steering on for me. I know you guys love your "tweener" bars, but can't get on with those at all - put it down to us Brits/Europeans being strange !

(P.S I know the red pedals don't go - had to borrow those off another of my bikes !)

Hopefully I'll be posting some longer ride/touring reports later this year !

9.7 miles. Having problems breaking past that 9 mile mark again.

I'd originally planned to ride on Easter and today, but waking up to 33 F and snow Easter morning nixed part of that. The batteries for my foot warmers have already been discharged and put away for the warmer weather not to mention it turned to rain. Rain at that temp is worse than riding in 20 F snow.

This morning was beautiful. SUN shining through a fog. It was 30 F when I woke, but warmed pretty quick to 50-ish.

By the time we could get out, the sun had disappeared, but it still didn't seem too cold. I was worried about being overdressed.

By halfway Into The Ride, I was glad of my gloves hidden in one of my bags and kept moving as vigorously as possible to keep from shivering.

Other than that it wasn't a bad outing. Loke limped briefly, but I couldn't find anything wrong. Chatted with some people and met a gorgeous Siberian/Malamute mix who at 6 months was already bigger than some Malamutes. He was very sweet.

Also took a short toodle through the city forest for the first time this year.

Went for a ride on the 9th, after wrestling the summer tires on. I. Hate. Changing. Tires.

Want to be perfectly clear on that. Took an hour and a half and left me all sweaty with fingers like RAW meat. They never go on easy for me yet other people make them jump right on and off.

I was utterly wiped after, but still dragged back out the door to take Loke for a run. 5.83 miles of River Loop. At least it was a gorgeous day. No need for any extra layers, just my summer weight clothing. :jiggy9:

Admittedly, it also felt easier even with my tired legs.

Jens was in London for some kind of training for his job at Adobe. Even had he been home, I'd have been on my own still. I love him to bits and he can solve just about any kind of computer problem known to man, but he's about as mechanical as a brick. Bad as I am with gears and tires, Jens is worse. :tongue9:

Got myself out for a ride today. It was cooler than yesterday, so I kept waiting for it to warm up as the doctor said I was good to ride as long as it wasn't too chill out. She didn't want me to ride in cooler temps and risk getting a chill in my lungs. At least she didn't tell me I shouldn't ride at all. That would have driven me crazy.

So, the sun came out around 1:30, so out the door I went then. I have to say, the tire change has been downright dreamy. I practically flew... as well as I could with a slightly sluggish husky with me at least. His speed was down for some reason, but he was still happy to be out.

Zigged my way over to the city forest for the 2nd time this year. Today's ride was a full loop through the forest where as the last one was just a short zip through one end. Also managed to snag my first mosquito bite of the year. Toodled through downtown and stopped for the first ice cream cone of the year by the river.

All in all, a lovely 10.7 mile outing.
