I saw the orthopaedic surgeon today ... good news bad news. The good news is no operation required; the bad news is I am off the bike and in a brace for probably six weeks as I have managed to tear my medial cruciate ligament. I also have to have a CT scan to check the knee for any other possible damage to be on the safe side.

Ah well could have been worse I guess. I feel like I am in the northern hemisphere now :)

I was pleased to be able to ride 17 miles with my wife on President’s Day holiday. It was a bit hard because we rode straight into the hardest wind I can remember riding in. And I was impressed she didn’t want to quit and return to the truck. We rode 8 miles into the wind, there were times we were protected by trees and hills but times it would gust and almost stop us or blow us over. But the she kept riding and the ride back was fun. Sometimes we coasted at 12 mph. When we pedaled we were reaching 20 mph easily. She was tired after 17 miles.

Ouch! Hope they find nothing wrong with the knee, Andrew!

Glad to see so many others riding!

We've had two days of GORGEOUS weather. I think it's been over a month since that's happened. Weeks definite. Before yesterday, our last single sunny day was already weeks gone so…

Yesterday, I was too sick to take advantage of beautiful blue skies and calm winds. I still wasn't feeling too great today, but better than before. I determinedly dragged myself out the door for a short ride at least.

Loke appreciated it and bad as I was feeling, it still felt nice to be out and moving in the SUN. The fur ball was like a well oiled, finely tuned machine, which I've not been able to say about him in ages. I also seem to be quickly recovery my muscular stamina. No burning muscles, or noodle legs. If I'd have felt better, I would have gone out for a few more miles.

If Loke keeps up this limp-free and powerful pacing, I might permit him an extra mile in the next 2 or 3 rides. I'm sure he'd appreciate more than 4 or 4.5 miles for a change.

Now if we can just get his allergies under control. The doggie dermatologist thinks Loke is one of those truly unfortunate dogs who not only has food allergies, but probably an addition environmental trigger as well. So, he's scheduled for a prick test on March 7th to figure out what it might be. Most likely dust mites. At this rate, I might end up with a bubble husky. :rolleyes9:

The poor thing. Must be hard trying to sort this out and of course not nice for Loke. Hate seeing dogs have to suffer.

Hope he gets to run as much as he likes soon.

:woohoo: It was 70 degrees and dry today :woohoo:

Got out for my FIRST ride of the year. A whopping 13.4 miles. My legs can tell I haven't been riding (though I have been on my treadmill at least 3 times a week).

Going to see Mark tomorrow. Bringing both bents in for a tune up. He says he has my new Corsa ready. I will see it tomorrow and pick it up next week. Now I have a good bent at work and home. Working 4 days a week now, I am hoping to do more weekend rides. :woohoo:

Took the VKHi racer out for a short run this afternoon. Man is she fast! Had a nice tail cross wind on the way out but of course that meant I was eating wind on the way back. 21 miles with. 19 mph average and just over 1000 feet of elevation gain.

My ride late yesterday was 26.29 miles which was one of my fastest rides on Kadiddle so far even with the wind hammering me on the way back in. I guess gym work during the cold, snowy, icy part of this winter is beginning to show up. It was such a good ride the Central High School band was there playing for me as I crossed the Clinton Presidential Bridge.

Weather is great, lower to mid 60's, past Sunday and Monday in the 70's, but the wind is tough. Suppose to remain in the mid 60's until early next week and then back down into the 30's. But I will take it for these days in February. If March is the windy month well it will be hurricane force winds then.
