Here I am on the road. My wife saw me and took this from the 18th floor porch of our condo overlooking the beach.

(Note - she had to have very fast reflexes because I was riding sooooo fast!)

I think that speed is super. I will look into getting a Garmin 510. My 200
is simple, but would like the heart rate monitor.

I think you will really like the Garmin 510. I have had mine for 6 months. It is the only one I use now. (I currently own 2 others.)

The advantage is you have your regular GPS and then when you are finished with your rides, you link it to your cell phone (via Connect app for android) and it puts it in your Garmin Connect account on the web. The up link is instantaneous. Technology is amazing.!!!

I also almost always ride with a heart rate monitor chest strap. My goal is to keep my heart rate between 120 - 150. I don't care how fast I am going as long as I stay in those parameters. Gives me a great work out. And on flat roads with no wind, I was up to 18 MPH without struggling and with a 150 heart rate. That was fun. The advantage of riding hills all the time is you can fly on flats!!!!

The only downside is this doesn't have map capacity. It can take you back to where you started (in case you get lost) but by "bread crumbs" not street maps. My other two GPSs have maps built in which I will use when I am riding on out of town rides because I like to see where I am and where I am going.

Out for a ride today. 5-ish miles.

The weather is gray, murky and TOO WARM! Typically, we've had our first snow fall by now with a few weeks of frost and ice. Even compared with last year's 'Mississippi' winter this is down right silly. 60 F? Really? Did Sweden shift about 2000 miles south when I wasn't looking? I rode in my summer clothes and was sweating! Poor Loke wasn't very happy either with the 100% humidity. *flips the rant switch off :tongue9:*

Other than that it was an okay River Loop. No rain at least which is nice. Snow falls won't stop me from riding, but it's really hard to talk myself out for rides when it's constantly raining.

Oh! The last ride I did pushed me over 600 miles for the year. Doubt I'm gonna break last year's 900+.

Must be the Pontofino Resort leaving Pensacola Beach which I had ridden past many times. Every year I go down there either in March or October and camp, I love riding there. Well except at the main intersection by Flounders and Alvins, I always slip around through the parking lots. From Ft. Pickens campgrounds to Navarre Beach's intersection and back with a loop around Ft. Pickens is 50 Miles. Always stop at the Dog House for a Hebrew Hot Dog and a beer before heading back to the campgrounds. I sure wish they would extend a bike path on further toward Fort Walton.

    Tale of "Two Rides"

Rode same ride but today I rode up the infamous "Florida Mountains". For those who do not know what a "Florida Mountain" is, it means riding into the wind. And the beach can have some strong continuous wind!!!

Today was the first day I really had any wind. And today the wind was blowing West at 20 MPH. Because of that the first half of my ride was 11 MPH. But coming back I was going over 20 MPH. What fun.

Here is the proof. Click the "All Stats" key and then look at the second line graph that shows speed. That is the two rides I was talking about.

You are correct. When we go "camping" it is condos or nice hotels. This is a great place to ride!!!

Another beautiful day at the beach. 70 degrees but very windy. Rode from Portofino to Fort Pickens and back.

Fort Pickens was built in 1834 when America found out that British ships and cannons could not destroy Fort McHenry in the War of 1812. (That dispute was the founding of our national anthem.) So the US built a series of Forts down the eastern seaboard to protect the seaports.

Fort Pickens was built to protect the Pensacola bay where the US had a big naval base (and still does). The only action Fort Pickens saw was during the Civil War. The Union Army occupied the fort and repelled the Confederate Army.

This is a National Park with an admission charged. The advantage was there was NO TRAFFIC and beautiful seaside riding. I flew down there but died coming back up.

A side note... Geronimo was kept here after he was captured. This became a tourist attraction.

Well, I like walking from Campsite "A" along the nature trail to the outer wall and walk the wall every morning when I am there.

14.8 miles. Aggravated with the River Loop and every other loop around here so I picked a direction and went. Wound up following the Sverigeleden to Danmark Church and onward in the vague direction of Stockholm.

COLD! When sitting still, out of the wind, My Garmin reported about 33 F or so. When moving or stuck in the wind, it consistently stayed around 30 F. I'm going to call it my first below freezing ride of the year. Multiple layers, foot warmers in my cycle shoes and mittens. It really got unpleasant when it started raining. *shiver*

Still didn't let it stop me. Loke and I pushed onward to a little village called Alsike before I called it a day. The chill was starting to make my muscles stiff and knees ache. I also felt a little woozy. It wasn't until after Jens picked us up that I realised the only calories I'd had the entire day was 3 mint chocolate Hershey's kisses. :o_O9: No wonder I felt a bit spacey.

Loke did great and tried to bully me onward while waiting for Jens. He's such a slave driver. :tongue9:

Just finished tidying up the Trike, riding home Friday I passed two Lovely Models [ Young Ladies ] . They were walking around Promoting some Company or Business. The Traffic lights changed and I had to stop.
The Ladies came up to me [ I feared they would annoy me with some leaflet or speel ] instead they said " Hey Nice Bike "
" are they easy to ride ? "
I answered , they were easy and comfortable, Great fun to ride, they said thats cool. The lights changed and I rode away.
I should have asked if they wanted to take pic with the Trike, It would have made a Beautiful Recumbent Promo picture, yes they were Very attractive ladies.
Needless to say havent seen them since in this area.
