Four days, three rides. Today was a rest day particularly since it was raining fit to wash out roads with thunder growling around when I woke up. All three rides were River Loops on days when the weather was actually pretty nice. Below the simmering threshold.

The reason they were all River Loops rather than some where else and longer was every time I'd start getting ready, Jens was calling out, 'Take Loke?'. River Loop it is. :rolleyes9:

Tomorrow is going to be pushing over 90 again, upper 80's the next day. Just melting away. I'm so over these freak heat waves...

I was in Sweden this last weekend - they have nice summers, but the weather was unusually hot. We went to shopping mall to try and find some air conditioned comfort, but sadly Sweden's shops like its apartments seem designed more for keeping the cold out, then keeping cool. Still the air conditioning in the car provided some relief ! I have access to a DF bike over there and managed one ride, but didn't feel like doing too much. I keep expecting to bump into Terii and Loke but haven't yet. I've seen a couple of other recumbents, one high racer and one trike in Upsala though.

Yes, I'm sure. The lack of AC is quite distinctive. :rolleyes9:

Sweden's been breaking all sorts of records. Most thunder strikes in the country in a day. Hottest June EVER though to me June was pleasant. First time the country has ever had heat-warnings. Record highs. There's a forest fire that's been blazing out of control about an hour west.... record size and duration. Jens and I thought about going up north for his vacation, but for many days it's been hotter above the Arctic Circle than here in Uppsala. It's almost like we've gotten a summer version of the polar vortex that hammered the US last winter. :eek9:

During a dental visit, I was chatting with the dentist and, of course, the weather came up. I mentioned about our consideration about going up north, but it was just too warm. He laughed, 'No escape!' He thought it so funny when I said, 'Maybe New Zealand? It's winter there now!'

Anyhooo... Went for a ride this morning. It was a 'meh' morning. A bit on the warm side, but within the range of tolerance rather than miserable with high humidity and still air. Maybe that will let them get the fire under control!

Just 4 miles. More for Loke's sake than anything. Gonna be pushing the upper 80's, low 90's again today if the clouds clear. *fingers crossed they stay*

Meanwhile under the Earth :) Canberra , our Nations capital , had Record Cold.
Was - 7 degrees Celsius. [ 19.4 F ] Thats 7 deg below Freezing. I for one am not used to this cold whilst riding and my lack of miles shows that. Fear that I may do some nerve damage in my feet - they go numb by half way to work these days. That is riding in 4 C [ 39 F ] so you can see that you handle the cold far better than me.
Good to see others are getting out, have fun - this cold here wont last too much longer.

Well I had been riding a pretty good bit. Putting miles in on anything I have with wheels. The 4+ mile ride on the MTB however did me in. All mud so on the singlespeed a lot of work. The ride ws on old rutted fire roads and for once I wished that I had a suspension. A few days later my back began hurting and then my neck. So, I have been off the bike trying to recover now for almost two weeks. :hissyfit9:

    Ouch! Feel better, Ward!

Though I'm moving at sleepy turtle speed thanks to weary legs, I took Loke out for a rolling walk because Jens asked so nicely. He wanted to give the car a thorough cleaning so wanted to be able to relax walking the furry one.

My legs weren't happy with me, but we were out. Thankfully my knees didn't hurt as much as I expected them to, but that might be because I've been taking anti-inflammatory meds to help them along.

Roughly 4 miles. Unfortunately, my new Garmin's battery life isn't as good as advertised so, after yesterday's fiasco, it decided to give me a low battery notice when I turned it on today. Moment's later, it was playing dead. :rolleyes9: My only complaint with it.

Tsk...tsk. When will they learn. Just because a thing is invented does not automatically mean it is good for human consumption. Case in point, upright bikes.
