The former CFO of Amazon.com, Joy Covey, died in a bike accident in Silicon Valley yesterday.

Joy was riding downhill on State Highway 35 when a minivan turned across the road directly in front of her. Joy crashed into the side of the minivan and died at the scene.

Well, that really sucks. Just out enjoying a nice ride only to have your life end becauseof a careless idiot. Hope the driver gets some jail time.

Being paranoid as I am, and having had multiple near-misses, with traffic to my left I always hang back at intersections just in case the idiot driver to my left decides in the last 100 feet to make an unsignaled right turn.

My green safety clothing with reflective tape like the highway workers wear, really stands out. One on the back rest on my Tadpole when I get it as well as the one I wear myself.

Flags, lights, lots of big bold stuff.

Motorcycles have this same problem even as big as most of them are.

I don't feel stupid with all this stuff. I feel smart.

People can't see us. They are looking for cars and trucks.

    Night and day.
